Guys,

The other day I was drivin home and 'Ol Blue just kept gettin' colder and colder, thought she'd freeze up on a 90 degree day. The temp hand used to read about half way from cold to hot when she warmed up, but now it only reads 2 ticks from cold. ehat's wrong with her???

Big Don,
If the radiator hose feels hot, it may be a bad gauge or pickup. If the hose is cool, it may be that the thermostat is stuck in the full open position and not letting it warm up. That is where I would start.

Hey Big Don.

When my thermostat froze open-better than froze closed. I was in the desert and thought the gauge was bad too. It read barely in the normal range. I now replace the thermostat at every coolant change.

My temperature guage often sticks open causing the truck to run cold. The guage must be taken out of the truck and heated up in boiling water so grit can be removed. When the head gasket was replaced the head was sand blasted but the grit was not sufficiently flushed.

It’s a keeper.
