Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Temp gauge proplem

I have a westac transmission gauge thats peg all the way over to the right. All connections look ok. Is the gauge bad when it does this?

It's probably the probe.

To check the wiring

I have a westac transmission gauge thats peg all the way over to the right. All connections look ok. Is the gauge bad when it does this?

Disconnect the wire from the probe,if the gauge pegs with the wire disconnected the wire is shorted to ground,if the guage stays on cold with the wire disconnected the sensor is shorted internally.
