On my way home from Tulsa yesterday, my temp gauge would read between zero to less than 1/4 scale. This seems unusually low considering the outside air temp was in the 90's, the A/C was blowing full blast, and the truck was running around 80-85 mph. It seems since I installed the Banks intercooler, the fan clutch is locked more often, causing more cooling than required. This is probably nothing to worry about in the summer, but I'm wondering if it may be a problem when the weather gets cold. The truck still has the original, stock radiator, and 222,000 miles on the odometer. I was worried about overheating problems when I first installed the Banks intercooler and the 'Ol Blue specials, but somehow it seems to be running cooler. EGT's were running around 600-650, when I kept my foot out of it, but would climb up to 1100-1200 on hard acceleration.

Before I installed my Horton fan my temp. never went above the first mark and was usually well below it even with the outside temp at over 100. With the Horton fan it goes slightly over the first mark. Under normal running with or without my trailer in tow that equates to 175 degrees. I now have a coolant temp gauge to run a comparison. When I turn on the Horton fan the factory gauge will read just over halfway between zero and the first mark. When my temp gauge is at it's lowest point (factory temp gauge) my other gauge reads about 170. Hope this helps.

Happy Trails
