According to the Dodge manuals I have, the boundaries of the "normal" range on the temp gage are 140 and 230 degrees F.
This implies that the the 2nd and 3rd divisions are 170F and 200F or close to that.
If so, the thermostat's completely open temp of 203F puts the gage at 3/4 of max. before full cooling is available.
This seems to agree with a recent experience driving from Stovepipe Wells to Townes Pass Death Valley, CA. It is a 7-8% grade for 12 miles.
Ambient temp was 100 degrees F at bottom of grade and 85 degrees at the top. I was running right to the floor at 2000 rpm in 5th all the way up (passing everyone easily). Water temp got to almost 7/8 of max (210F ?) then stayed put. EGT was 750F immediately after turbo. Boost 20 psi (wastegate active).
So it appears the temp gage can be quite high normally under heavy load and hot weather.
What readings have some of you got when running hard?
