The wires for the temp sending unit (the thermometer readout above the rear view mirror) were sheared off right at the snap connector in a collision with a deer. THere is no way to splice the wires back together, Can I buy a new sensor with both sides of the plug fitting (male and female) so I can splice it back on to the existing wire?

You should be able to get the wire harness side of the connector. The dealer I work at has a book of connector repair kits. If you know what the connector looks like you can go through the book and match it up. You will need to know how many wires what the face of it looks like the color of the connector and the style of clasp that secures the connector to the sensor. I might be able to get a part number if needed.

The sensor is located behind the grill at the top in the middle of the grill. It is a cylinder shaped piece of plastic with a couple of wires coming out of it.

Ronco, on your '95 the sensor is on the radiator support frame, behind the grill, almost behind the driver's side headlight.

Gifford,

Don't know what year your truck is but,

Temp Sensor Jumper wire #5602199AB $21. 60

Hope this helps

Got the same problem with my 95.

Temp reading is way out of whack.

Keep forgetting to tell the stealer to fix it.

Maybe I should try myself. How hard can it be to replace the sensor.

Anyone got a part number for the sensor and a ball park price?

Temp Sensor #4688204 $16. 10

This was for a 01 I installed a trip computer in.

I "think" this is the same sensor dealer price.
