maintaining 50-55 mph in 3rd gear, O/D off, pulling 13280 #'s combined weight up 6 mile long 6% grade (passing folks) with ambient air at 106 degrees. water temp. gauge showed left hand side of needle still touching the 190 mark.

outside air temp at 110 degrees (o'head console) and inside cab temp. at 82. 4

Your in the normal range. I was on I10 last week and the outside temp was 115 and went up to 117 for a short time. I was empty doing 72 in OD pulling Chiraco Summit and thats what I saw on my water temp. What was interesting is my trans always go up porportionally to the outside once it gets above 95. My trans always runs at 140 and goes up about 5 degrees pulling a hill long hill like Chiraco. When it goes up to 115+ I see temps at 165. I wanted to check the exhaust temps on the new air box and filter, but they were probably affected also so I'll wait to get some normal outside temps that I've baselined on other trips before I try to see if there is any change. Anyway, I think your good especially towing.

That would just tickle the **** out of me, but what was your transmission temperature?

gauges? what's stinkin' gauges?

seriously, I'm driving it the way it came off the showroom floor. I have the transmission serviced once a year and have 77k on the odometer. If the rpm's dip down then so does the gear selector and the skinny pedal gets less pressure.

btw, the above baselines were not at WOT. I don't hurry, I enjoy the journey. I plan on DTT mod's early next year so I can use the e-brake that is installed but dormant at this time.
