I wouldn't post this in 911, but we just reinstalled my cylinder head, and I'm still fighting with the drain petcock to quite leaking so I'm very scared of over-heating my motor.

The truck was just sitting there running and the temp gauge just went DEAD! :confused: :{

Where should I start looking? :confused: I'm not even sure where the temprature sensor is located on the motor? :confused:

Mark. .

You may have to reopen the drain cock and reseal it again,possibly may have some grime in the seal area which is preventing a proper closure. If it does not reseal then you may have to replace the pitcock with a new one. There was a thread awhlie ago on this here in the forums which I seen.

The water temperature sensor is located on the left side of the 12 valve head all the way at the back behind where the fuel filter is located. It has a plug that needs plugged in to work and maybe you have overlooked it. If you had replugged it maybe it slipped out and if not you better practice becoming Gumby to change it. Once you find it at the back on the left side of the head you will understand what I mean... ... ... . Andy

I don'nt have the spec. s with me but you can use theroy of how it works to diagnos it , there is low voltage coming from the gauge [ if not then you'll have to look into the gauge cluster for problum] to the sensor, the sensor is a variable resistor[ resistance varies acording to temp but there is always some resistance] that makes for varisble voltage back to gauge, so check the 2 wires to sensor for voltage[ one wire ground one pos. ] then the 2 contacks on sensors should have some resistance.

Well I found my problem. We busted the #@$%! out of the sensor while removing, and moving around the cylinder head this weekend. Just a slight little wiggle from my hand on the connector this morning caused the blade to come right out of the sensor. I stuck it back in as good as possible, and the temprature gauge works again! Oo.

Will have a replacement here in the morning... . but don't have time to replace for a few days. :rolleyes:

Also I *believe* the petcock finally submitted. :-laf

Thanks to all!
