2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission A/C went out suddenly

Well, I made my 1400 mile drive on Friday and Saturday, and am now in sunny Arizona for the school year. First of all, let me say that ALTITUDE SUCKS!!!! After driving down through Commie-fornia, and feeling the power of 50 ft. elevation, this 5010' level in Prescott is just miserable. I mean, the power is still there, it's just not as snappy... . I do however get to smoke out the ricers now! :D :D

On to temps...

transmission temp, in normal city driving conditions... stoplight to stoplight... . right now w/ outside temps of 95*F, after the engine has warmed up, I'm seeing 180*-195*, and sometimes up to 210*. My probe is in the line pre-engine cooler. These temps seem normal? There not too high as to cause damage, are they?

Exhaust temps on shutdown... I have my probe pre-turbo, and have been waiting for it to show below 400* before I shut down. I know that most guys go to 300* post-turbo, is 400* fine, or what do you guys use?

Other than that, this truck is awesome. Pulled the grapevine at 79 MPH (cruise), never went over 1075*, never shifted, outside temp of 88*F, and transmission sat at 165* the entire time. Oh, never got passed either Oo. Oo. :D :D

Thanks for any help.

Later, Josh.

I talked to the pro's.....

And they tell me those transmission temp. numbers are normal for where your probe is. Those were for mopdified transmission's though. Your sig shows stock. That seems a little high for stock.

My truck weighs 11K lbs and in normal cruising even with a modified transmission it satys around 150°. Around town seemed to heat up where your's are. I didn't like it and installed some fans. Here's a link to the thread if interested.

It seems to have helped just not as much as I though it would. I'm installing another sender in my pan to see how much it helps cool around town. Remeber that the temps you see on the line are the hottest they are anywhere in the system. The pan temps are much cooler. My thinking is if I can lower the pan temps enough I'll get some result out the other end.

I'll post more after I get my other temp probe.

As far as shut down I never look, just shut it off. I suppose over time I may regret it but that will be the excuse to upgrade the turbo.
