Well just installed my new Autometer gauges on the a pillar this weekend and had some questions I could not find answers for using the search. At wot I can get about 15 psi and 1200 degrees real fast but when tc kicks on boost goes to 0. At cruising highway speeds, no load I have 0 boost and around 900 degrees. I thought I should have about 5 psi just crusing? I am not sure the person I had install the Banks kit knew what he was doing:mad: Didn't know of this EXCELLENT site and group of people then or I would have done it myself. Could he have gotten the wastegate actuator adjusted wrong and how do you adjust it? It was so doggy after he was done I went back in and installed the factory cam plate with better results. But I do want to use the Banks plate now that I have gauges. This is a great site and thanks for all the information I know I will get and can trust..... :D

I am not sure what they should be, but I installed my gauges about 2 weeks ago. My boost at WOT, from a stop, goes to about 33#'s and EGT's go to about 1100. Normal running,

(65 mph), boost is about 2-3#'s and EGT's around 600 degrees.

I do have the TST #8 plate and a K&N filter, stock exhaust.

Sounds like your Banks plate may have been installed too far back. If you can still find the original screw marks on the stock plate install it in that position and scribe a line even with the front of the plate on the housing then install your Banks plate even with that line. At the same time make sure the housing around the plate is still in the stock position, hopefully you can tell by the paint. You may want to adjust these positions later but first see where it gets you. Sort of sounds like your installer just turned nuts and bolts without knowing what he was doing.

Illflem, I think you are right. I watched him do it and he was stumbling just to read the instructions. And this is the local "authorized" dealer. I learned enough to dig in and put the stock plate back in, adjust the star wheel and it goes now. With the gauges I will tackle putting the Banks plate back in and adjust accordingly. From what I have learned here I just might block the wastegate all together. Good plans for a Tuesday afternoon. I will report back with the results and thanks to you and mcandies for the help.

Low Boost

The boost definitely is too low. You are right to expect about 5 psi at highway cruising speed unloaded on level ground. EGT seems about right, though. Make sure that the boost elbow that bleeds off some of the feedback pressure to the wastegate is installed. This should increase max boost from stock 20 psi to about 30-34 psi. Try to follow the sender hose from its source in the intake manifold to the guage; there may be a kink in it that would cause low readings. How's the smoke level now? The kit should allow more fuel to the injectors to burn; that means more smoke out the exhaust - maybe a little more, maybe a lot more. Depends on the plate size, its placement, and AFC adjustment.

boost

Well after spending a great afternoon Tues installing and adjusting the Banks plate, (ended up slide all the way foward

and a little turn or two on the star wheel)this thing runs alot better. Just gets up and moves. Smokes just the right amount to let people behind see me :p I can reach 1400 real quick at wot and get 25psi out of it but at highway speeds and no load the gauge is on 0! All the tube is good and no kinks or cuts just two days old. Pyro reads 900 at highway no load. I guess it's time to belly up and get Piersified and ordersome 3k springs

:D

Sounds to me like you have a boost leak. Check your intercooler boots for tears or loose clamps.

The best thing to do is pressurize the intake and listen for air leaks. There are instructions and parts lists on the website for making the fitting yourself.

I'll bet you have some sneaky leaks somewhere!
