I have one, they are used by chiropractors and accupuncture clinics a lot. When I retired I had muscle spasms/cramps in my left shoulder that disable me. The tens unit was the only thing I found that would give me relief. bg

I didn't know what you guys were talking about until I looked it up. I go to the back cracker couple times a month and he uses a muscle stimulator before the adjustment. Do the TENS unit do the same thing?

I've been looking at the Teeter inversion tables lately. I've got 3 hyrniated discs and visit the chiropractor once every 6 weeks. It seems like traction helps me the most which is the reason I'm thinking an inversion table might help me out.

I have degenerative disc disease (and a few other things going on) in my back.
The tens helps a little. I have oily skin so it's a PITA to keep the pads on me.
I dont like how it goes through batteries.

Damn I just take a big Motrin 800 milligrams and go work out the pain, putin up hay or chopping some firewood with an ax, the big cross-cut saw will take the stiffness out of a entire back and shoulder, neck, upper and lower arm and builds some hand strength.

Im going to the back cracker here in 5 days, Its called Daisy and a pack string, everyday until the mid part of Oct, 20 mile in and the same comin out. You boys should ott-ta-be ashamed for lettin your self go like that

Can't everybody have a god like status

I'm 6'1 and an even 200 lbs. The other day my step brother (who is half my age and into his 4th year of captain and star running back for highschool varsity football) got a little froggy and we ended up in a wrestling match. It took a minute but I still folded him up and put him in his place. The next day I sure paid the price and I still feel it a little Today. I'm not an iron man like you BIG but I consider myself above average in fitness and my annual physical I go through for work puts me in the 99 percentile for persons my age. BUT 14 years of slingin iron with real men twice my size and running moto cross accelerates the wear on the human body. My biggest fear is aging and arthritis if I don't try to be proactive about it now. My wife is an RN and she sees the little things that don't work so well an has been preaching for the last 4 Or 5 Years if I don't do something now I'm going to pay dearly. It takes a while to get things through my head but lately my body has been agreeing with her.

Sometimes a little relief ain't all bad.

I have always been fit, in school I got my bell rung playing football didn't care for that, My thing was running long distance. In school they would only let a kid run 3 miles at most, that didn't cut it for me. Cross-country was more my thing running over and thru varying types of terrain at altitude was my gift. I got mixed up with a man down the street when I was a kid we would run to the top of San Gorgonio mountain just about every weekend 11,500 ft going up one side you would gain a vertical mile in less than 8 miles the round trip was 16 miles the other side was about a 20 mile loop but not as steep that was also an up and back in a day. The other side of I 10 is San Jacinto 15 mile loop did it but that was a freeway of people and not quite as tall.

Got my leg blown off and that was the end of anything running, I haven't quit working hard as I can everyday around the house, stacking hay, cutting wood (not always with power tools) just plain hard a** work keeps you in shape better than any gym will, I still manage to get in at least an hour or more of cardio on an elliptical walker 5 days a week. I do lift weights in the winter to stay strong.

Driving a truck for 35+ years takes its toll on a back, mine is still good!!! the only reason is staying fit, if you quit you will go down hill and fast. I see young kids come hunting with us and they cant lift a 150 lbs pannier or a manties up on a sawbuck to save their butt. This year my Nephew and I got a late start getting supplies up to hunt camp, we tied 44 mules in less that 2 hours that's 88 panniers or manties each at 150lbs holding it in place and getting some rope around it to hold it in place so we could get it secured to the side of a mule.

Im not saying im a superman but I don't make excuses as to why I cant find time to stay fit, its not an option its living the way you want at 61 years old.

Breakfast and lunch around here regularly consists of Motrin liquigels @ 600 mg doseage, alternating daily sometimes with (up to) 320mg dialaudid.:{ Not every day, but some.
I saw Shaq advertising a battery version of a TENS unit made by Icy-hot lately.

Bignasty I like the way you are doing. My father was the same way, when he was 71 years old was the first time when I was faster on uphill hiking then he. A life full of working and walking in young years. He's now 76 still fit as possible.

So, Go on, 61 isn't old!
