I drove an automatic and a six speed. Both were brand new. The automatic was disappointing, it had no low end power and when the salesman started it it sounded and acted like my truck does when it has sat outside all night in 0 degrees when its not plugged in.

The six speed was just plain pathetic. It started all right (after the glowplugs warmed  ) but I stalled the thing twice because I couldn't get it into 2nd gear to start out, I was accidentally putting it into fourth. Then once it was in 2nd I had to feather the throttle and slip the clutch to get it to pull out without stalling. I had one steep hill to pull out on and didn't even try it in 2nd but went straight to 1st, and it still stalled. The only way it would pull out was to rev it and then dump the clutch.

This is the first time I have driven the new 6. 0 and I am shocked at how bad it runs. Below 2000 rpm's it is sluggish, but below 1500 rpm's power is non-existent.

Just my experience.

What the heck are you doing test driving Fords and Chevys?

Wouldn't it be easier just to beat your head against the corner of a file cabinet?

I'm not actually even thinking about buying one. Me and a buddy were killing some time today and thought it would be fun to harrass the salesmen and drive some new trucks in the process.

Huh It's interesting to hear that someone steped up to the plate and tried to swing a new bat ... allbeit a bat laden with pine tar and corked but hey it's a good read anyhow thanks for the testing.

Uhh you were just testing right?

Buddy of mine DID buy one (tried to sway nim with a tomeygun price) Anyway 6. 0 AT Edge Juice & Attitude. Level 3 and 3 it still a tad sluggish right off the line but as soon as the turbo spools it lights the tires up, edge defuels, shifts, burns tires through 2nd, defuels, shifts, about 15-20 ft in 3rd. Its fun beating on a truck when its somebody elses!!!

I saw WMonroe's truck at our local Ford dealer on the way home from work today. I just sent him a pm to get the info before I found this post.

I hope it is just for information Will... . Your 12-valve is just to sweet to give up. :(

Sounds like my 6. slow auto test drive. And yes, it was great to make it back to the dealer, so I could get back in my sweet 99 CTD!

Yeah I did make it back to the dealership, and as I was leaving I left them as big of a cloud of smoke as my truck can make. :D Oo.
