An alternative to the DC 'test pipe' is to go to a truck parts store or muffler shop that works on big rigs, buy a length of either 3 inch or 3. 5 inch straight tubing measured to replace the cat and adapters.

On my 96 ext cab, the downpipe is 3 inch and the inlet to the stock muffler was 4 inch.

I used a 3 inch to 3. 5 inch adapter with a 22 inch long section of 3. 5 inch pipe and a 3. 5 inch to 4. 0 inch adapter along with the four appropriately sized muffler clamps.

Total cost for all parts was $25 dollars. This is about half the cost of the test pipe.

If there is anyone in the midwest looking for a test pipe and traveling through Iowa, I've got a brand new one I will give away:D . It hasn't been used since I straight piped the truck before using it, it's free as long as it's to a fellow member.

Thanks

Thanks Steve,

Rx pipe tonight, Too dark and too many bugs to start putting it on tonight. Will have to be a weekend project.

Have sent you an Email off line.

The folks on this site are the best, where else would this happen. I'll have to pass this good deed on at the next club meeting with something.

Thanks again,

Dick

Test pipes used to have stamped on them "To verify catalytic converter efficiency only, remove after use". Remember to always follow instructions. ;)
