Mud Bog Shoot out & Burnout Contest

The Texas camp out in Kerrville was/is great fun. I went for only 1 day and if you missed it you missed a bunch of great people especially Sandy and Grandpappy who looked after a guy whos wife didnt make it. Thanks for everything. I bet that campground did not know how to act with all those Dodge diesels there and half of them with the hoods up. The food was wonderful, venison sausage spicy or mild, blackened red fish great chicken, all kinds of salads and beans, it was great.

I have to second that John. Lots of good people and good food. In my book, that makes for a perfect day. Even had a new member that got introduced to the wonderful world of bombing. :D

Sorry I missed it, got busy helping friends poor concrete. Any chance it can be done again sometime later this summer/fall?

Randy: There was some talk of a bigger event (to take the place of last year's Lake Belton event) to be held near Kerrville in Oct or Nov. Stay tuned. Maybe we need to do a local lunch or something prior to that?

Guadalupe RV Campground was a great place to hold this weekend's rally. Perhaps the nicest RV park I've seen. A great time, good food and new friends. Many thanks to Grandpappy for helping to set this up.

I've got a few digital photos I'll try to post here in the next day or two.

WARNING: Attending TDR events can be expensive!

We had a great time at the campout and gained a few pounds too! But, be warned, these events can be expensive!! I found out that I "needed" an EZ (which I bought) and guages (ordered today). Now, how do I break the news to the CFO (chief financial officer) about the purchases with out having to sleep in the camper???:D

local meeting

Landshark

I too missed out on the fun due to work, but I like ur idea for another local gathering... I have access to a site on medina lake through my police association that might make a good meeting area. . its not an overnite area, but its got plenty of space and lots of playground toys for kids, as well as a boat dock if im not mistaken. . lemme know if ur interested and ill look into it.

Why don't we plan a local lunch. Someplace different, like up in Marble Falls or, or Lampasas, or something. Make a nice drive out of it, in addition to lunch?

plans for the fall meet

Yes, the get together was very good, I got to ride in Weir Cummins very fast truck, I got to drive Tom W's DTT prepared truck==What a trans--gotta have it. On the subject of a fall meet. I suggested to sevaeral members that we get together late Oct/ early Nov. at Buckhorn Lake RV Resort in Kerrville. Reasons? 1. Seems to be fairly central as far as distance from major cities in north, south & east Texas. 2. The weather is usually good. 3. This park has paved pull thru spaces for those with RVs. It has every ammenity you can imagine. 4. It has a HUGE heated/air conditioned barn built expressly for this kind of meeting. (you can display in the building at least 8 or 9 motorhomes & still have room for quite a few people). Can you say vendors ? Lance Poole was instrumental in helping to organize the Temple show last year. He is ready to mail out fliers to those who were there & help out again. Anyone know who to contact at Boerne Superstore? They had expressed interest last year. Sorry this post is so long, but we need to talk this up. I can make arrangements at Buckhorn. I have camped there several times & will be there next weekend for a rally with our travel club.

Lunch

Randy, I vote for a Saturday or Sunday lunch at Coopers in Llano. Best bar-b-que you ever tasted & a nice drive, too. You can E-mail me if you like.

Hey Llano sounds good to me. That should be a good drive. I prefer Saturdays myself, but might be flexible on that. Unfortunately, it'll have to be a few weeks. My Grandma just passed away, so I'll be taking an unplanned trip to Indiana this weekend. Let's give it a try soon though.

We had a great time in Kerrville, learned lots of valuable and expensive info, can't wait to start Bombing, especially after riding in Weir's truck, that was incredible. Can't wait for the next get together. Thanks again, Granpappy.

Thanks

Thanks for all the kind words to me but hey, lets give a BIG thanks to all the wives who pitched in with all the good food. They did an outstanding job despite the short notice. Maybe we can do better next time with more notice.
