Thanks, TDR Staff

2001 Texas Rally was Great!!

Texas Rally images are posted here!

This was mentioned in the camp out post.

What do you guys think of having another rally similar to what was done last year. I was thinking about having it on the weekend of September 28,29, and 30. If we're going to do this, we really need to start planning now.

First, where to have it? Lake Belton? any other suggestions? We need to make sure that the location will be big enough to handle a large turnout and have camping facilities for everyone. It also needs to have a pavilion or other covered area or even indoor facilities available for any type of presentation or seminar.

If anyone knows of a company that would like to sponser an event like this, give them a call and see if they are interested. It would be nice to have some door prizes to give away or maybe have a sponser provide lunch for one of the days.

If anyone would like to help planning drop me a line at

I'm also planning to competely re-design the LSTDR webpage and could really use some suggestions and pictures to add to the site.

What do you guys think??

Hey Curtis, if you want, I can contact Cummins here in S. A. . As well as Boerne Chrysler/Dodge. That weekend looks good to me, at least as far as I know now.

Curtis, Check out this thread:Texas camp Out--Great fun on this forum. We are working on this type of deal for late Oct/early Nov. Lets get this onto one thread so we can work together. Please read my post in the above thread. You can reply on thread or you can e-mail me(address is in signature).

gitchesum

Looking forward to another get together, Lake Belton was great last year and centraly located for a lot of people, a little later (cooler ) wouldnt hurt either, but the important part is LETS DO IT

sponsors

When i was looking to by my truck i spoke quite a few times to the fleet manager at Boerne Dodge. I can call him up if needed as soon as we get a date. .

We have some pretty good ideas in the works. I only suggested the end of September because that's the only time I'll be able to go unless we do it the weekend of Nov 23rd. But hey, It ain't all about me:).

How about we settle on a date first?

September

October

November(historically, it's been in the middle 50's in the morning and the middle 70's in the afternoon. )

If you prefer, we can have a a poll to help track things

What do yo guys think?

OK, I've got a couple of e-mails with concerns about the date. Most are agreeing that it should be in September due to several members going out of town in October for various reasons(Colorado hunting, family events, etc. ).

So, how about we start planning for the weekend of September 29th and 30th.

Randy and SA Law. Can you put a call into Boerne to see if they would be interested in helping us out. I also know Ranch Hand Bumpers s located in Boerne as well.

Kerrville sounds like a real nice place, but it seems a little far for the Dallas guys to drive. It appeared everyone was happy with the set-up at Belton, so I'm going to suggest we have it there again.

I'll start contacting some of the vendors who sponsered the event last year to see if they would be interested. If anyone has a working relationship with some of the vendors from last year speak up please, that way we don't double call them.

Anyone else have any input??

Thanks in advance

Curtis

It would be nice if we could get someone out there that has a supply of goodies such as injectors, bolt on stuff and gauges. I think it is a lot more fun to buy things if I get to install them at the rallys. I have a DTT TC saver in the box that will upgrade the one I have now, but I just cant find the time to install it while at home. I wouldnt mind getting a cam plate for my 12 valve, and possibly some 215 injectors.

Think Joe Donnelly could make it back to Texas???

It would be great if you could make it this year Joe. I think your knowledge would benefit everyone there.

I looked at several different places to hold the rally this year. I know I said I like the Lake Belton site but after talking to the Corp of Engineers(they manage the campground)there are a several drawbacks using to that site. Namely no air-conditioned area to hold seminars an the fact that the open pavilion would cost $60 per day.

Guadalupe River Resort was also very nice but their pavilion is not available that weekend.

However, thanks to Jim Humphreys(Rd. Runner), I was turned onto Buckhorn Lake Resort.

They have a website at www.buckhornlake.com

We can get the rally rate of $20 per night.

Here is a list of their amenities:

131 / 260 Total number of RV sites

45* / 120 Number that accommodate pull-thrus

131* / 260 Number that accommodate double slideouts

131* / 260 Number of sites with full hookup

unlimited Maximum RV length (in feet)

20 / 30 / 50 AMP's available for hookup

0 / 0 Number of cabins / Number of rental units

Phone hookups / Modem friendly

TV hookup

No Tent sites available

Group facilities / Some handicap facilities

Each campsite has its own dump station

The * denotes how many of the campsites have completed construction.

They also have an 8000sq. ft. pavilion available for Saturday and Sunday. It's air-conditioned and has a full commercial kitchen for our use. It also has the ability to allow a truck to be drivin inside for visual demonstrations. All this is included at no charge with 10 or more campsites reserved.

This is a great location.

I know it's a little further for the guys in Dallas but it's well worth the extra drive.

There are several hotels in the area for those who don't have RV's to bring or you can stay at the Guadalupe River Resort just down the road as they have cabins available for rent($90 a night)

So, are these arrangement Ok with everyone? Please post any extra information you might want to add.

Here's a couple of pictures from their website:

Cool site :)

That site looks great, I will be pulling my 5th wheel so the big spaces sound good and the A/C sounds even better.

I am going to try real hard to bring the Texas version of the Red Rocket to this one.

Lets all pitch in and see if we can make this one better than the last one. It will be hard because the last one was great but if we all pitch in I think WE can do it.

I will be making a call to Piers to talk to him about it soon as I am going to be talking to him about more HP anyway

:D

Wiercummin: I have heard great things about your truck, hope you will take me for a ride soon.

Curtis, let me know what else I can do to make this event great for everybody.

Both the date and the location sound great to me! The distance shouldnt be a problem. Spending time in the Ram isnt a bad thing... :)

Personally, I say nail this location down unless we have any major objections, or something better comes up. It is pretty hard to beat AC, and a kitchen!.

Curtis..... Count me in, that weekend looks great for me. May have to stop there on way home from Colo. but that should be no problem and I don't leave for N. M. hunting until mid Oct. BTW... you going to N. O. in Nov. ? I have plans for that too if I get back from N. M in time... ... ... Howard

Count me in. We all know that time spent in your Ram is gratifying--any time spent at Kerrville & surrounding areas is also time well spent. Bring your family with you; there are lots of things to see & do here. This campground is great place to meet. The management & staff are second to none!! There is a lake which is stocked. (catch & release)-great fun for the kids. & there are 2 swimming pools. Thera are lots of neat places to see in the area. One of my favorite places is the Cowboy Artists Museum. (really good)

sponsor update

Went to Boerne Dodge today and talked to the fleet manager. . He said he would have the owner of the store call me tomorrow. I contacted Rio Grande truck accessories, as they are the ones who gave me the deal on my bumper replacements, and they said they would be there. I also contacted the Line-X dealer i used and spoke to the owner, who is a good friend of mine. She stated she would be interested as well. hope this helps. Contact me if there are any questions. Myself and RandyJ are gonna try and go to the Cummins store here in town sometime this week as well

count me in

Sounds good to me. Really liked the first one and looking forward to the second one. I'll even offer up my truck for an injector install demo :) :) :)

It looks like I may be good to go for that weekend provided nothing comes up between now and then. It's just SO FAR! ;) For me, let's see, about 80 miles :p I'm so used to having to drive forever to do anything, it will be neat to have something going on nearby.
