Texas Rally 2004 DYNO headcount thread

HOLD THE PHONE HOLD THE PHONE

PIERS CAN'T DRINK AS MUCH AS PETER

Besides... if everyone would quit putting their emptys in the trunk of my rental when I go to these events, I wouldn't smell so bad on the plane ride home. :-laf

Now I may just have to come to show just how little I really do drink.

Peirs, make room in that motor home for me, my gal and my 9 children. We will have fun, won't we? Oo.

Peter

The year I went the Kondolays (of DTT) were there also.

I had a room in Kerrville, and traveled to the campground in the morning.

It's a social technical event. (Just my type)

It's a great, laid back setting.

Curtis,

Is there anyway we can do that "cruise through the country side" again, like in '01? That rocked!

Merrick

Something I'd like to do at the event (assuming we get to run the dyno somewhere) is compare trucks with an OEM trans (like mine) versus trucks with the DTT and similar transmissions. The great thing about eddy current absorber dynos is that they're really awesome for testing transmission functions. Piers can tell you exactly what I mean (he's got a dyno like mine. ) This could be a cool opportunity for those who have never dyno tested their truck, and maybe even more fun for those who have never tested on an absorber dyno.

An hour on the dyno can be some of the best money you've ever spent. . . .

BK

Hey Folks,

Just talked to MDW, and it looks like we're gonna have a dyno day on Saturday. . Oo. Oo.

jetenginedoctor is bringing his DynoDynamics Model 450 single axle EC retarder dyno. For those who might not know, this is the same dyno that Piers uses at PDR.

Price for 3 pulls is only going to be $45. Heck of a deal if ya ask me. It's possible that the duallies will have to pull hte outside tires, but we will have two 3 ton floor jacks and 8 jackstands just for that. We'll also have an air compressor and impact wrench to help speed things up.

I'm going to start a new thread to get a good headcount for the dyno event. IF you plan on getting on the dyno, please respond to that thread, that way this one will stay on track.

Thanks,

Mike, Pam, and Curtis.

I don't know about that. I remember your last trip to Texas!! ;)

With the amount ofadult beverages drank that weekend, I'm suprised anyone can remember anything about that weekend. ;)

Is anyone going to bring timing tools? I am going to try real hard to get the project truck down there this year.

My parents live in a neighborhood just south of town . Maybe we could set the dyno up in their front yard! :D :D

Hey Scot,

I'm doing a 78 Ford as well..... well I've been doing it for a year or so, but it is starting to come together. It's a crew cab short box 4X4, got a twin turbo Cummins in it, along with the NV4500 trans, Dana 80 rear & Dana 60 front, boy are those getting hard to find. We put a posi in the Dana 60..... not that I'll ever pull sleds or anything, but it always pays to be prepared :D

I just got off the phone with Chris Strickland @ http://www.relentlessdiesel.com/ Count him as a definite maybe also.

He said he wants to see Piers in action, LOL.

Also: We are going to have a new MC this year as Andrew AKA TxDieselKid has accepted the promotion. Thanks Andrew.

Scot: We can probably do your timing.

It looks like I'll drop a leave I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER to try and make this one again, at least if they cancel it, more people will have a say so in it.

It would be nice to see Piers and Louise as it seems I can never get up there and to hang out with you guys again and If the guy with the dyno shows up, guess we'll what the ole' gal has in her.

Those of you that have never run on the type of dyno will like it, it's the closest to a true load (like the road) as you can get.

I can throw my set in the toolbox if you'd like.

Count me in for the Rally. . I am sure Kernel will be there also. . Several people who were banned from here will be turning out there as well!!! Cant wait! I turned down a trip to the coast, so hopefully we can get the weather to cooperate this time!!!

Hey Guys and Gals,

If you plan on being there, please post it here so we can get somewhat of an accurate headcount. Sure would be appreciated.

Yourself and number of guests with you would be even better. ;)

Just something to keep in mind is that we have reserved a certain number if sites together. If you plan on staying at the RV resort, you need to call them to make your reservations before all the sites are full. It always better to be close, less walking to get to the cooler. ;)

I'm going to be leaving out early Saturday morning and heading down. I should be there sometime around 11 or noon. If you don't see me send out the search party.

Anyone know what is the latest that I can get into the park in case I get a wild hair, skip out of work early on Friday and cruise down?
