Camping for Black Mountain Diesel Grand Opening- Update

DFW Dyno Day?

Hello!!

It was about this time last year that we started talking about the Texas rally and I was wondering if there had been plans for another this year. Houston guys please chime-in... . last years rally was great!!

HUAAAH!

Lance, I figured one of us would have to get this going. I'd seen the Houston race thread but didn't think that it was really on the same level as the last couple of rallys. Not to mention there hasn't been a lot of activity since the end of June. Last years rally at Kerrville was picture perfect in my opinion. Anybody up for that again? Same place same time? We would be blessed if we had the same weather again. How about it? Lance and I have a friend that has fallen to the dark side we could bring with us. Nothing like having a phraud whipping boy along! Kinda like playing cowboys in a room full of indians. Let's talk about it!

Darren,

That's just it, the Race thing, will be the big rally for Texas this year. If we can have a rally, and also have a race, like Munice, why not do it? I think this is the thinking behind it. There is no point to having 2 rallys because people would be split on which one to goto. These are my thoughts at least.

Andrew

By all means lets race and rally at the same time, more trucks = more fun whether they race, watch or help it should be fun.

November seems like too far away. I would be able to make 2 rallys, and I think a lot of other people would make it also. Some people dont care about drag racing, and would rather spend time with the vendors.

I would like to go back to Kerville. The weather in November is a lot less predictable. We might not be able to get the Canadians down here in November :(

Just my . 09 cents (Govt workers cant do anything cheap)

I like the Kerrville idea also. I know a lot of guys like the racing. For me I'll take the camping and just hanging around!

Kerrville was a great setupand lots of fun. If there was racing also it would be even better, you dont have to race you can still hang out and BS but there would be more to do and more good TDR folks to get to know if we could have the extra activitiy. Maybe more vendors would come also because of more draw for different interests.

So is the Houston race thing going to happen? There are still no details on the thread that TDK submitted. I would like to go to the rally where ever it may be.

If Kerrville is to far away for the Dallas folks, you could always have it back in Temple ( Belton ) like the "Lone Star Rammer's" ( TX Ram,243, and Homebod )and the Dallas folks did on the very first one, back in September 23 , 2000 ???????????. Kerrville was the center point for everyone. There is a camp ground at the Belton Lake, right at the dam !!!!!!! September - November , what - ever , be here before you know it.

I believe I heard MDW say that there will NOT be a rally and a race... something to do with vendors who were not willing to commit to two events in one year.

It looks like it will might have to be either Kerrville type event or race and camp type event (either or), the vendors are saying coming all this way twice in one year might be a stretch for them, but... there has been a new development that may allow us to join in on an allready being done drag race event.

Please take all this with a grain of salt the deal changes minute by minute. I will say there will be something this year, we are just trying to make it the best possible event for all you guys and gals.

Its a very time consuming task and Gitch is doing an excellent job, he must have a phone attached to his head for all the calls he has made for all of us, Thanks a bunch Gitch :)

I just don't understand why people think if there is a race that coinsides with the camping, it won't be like last year? Just because there will be a race don't mean YOU have to race. However there will be WAY more people there if there is ALSO a race and not just camping. 2 events is totally out of the question if I were Piers or Kondolay, but I am not them. Would YOU want to drive all the way to Texas twice if you were them?

Sorry for the rant, just finally had to say something,

 Andrew

If I didn't live in Texas, or God forbid wasn't born in Texas... I would use every possible excuse to go visit :D

Texas Rally

I am good with both a race and rally together!!! NO issues here. I would like for us to find a campground that is close to the race-way so those who do have campers ... . have a safe place to park as well as plug in. This may have already been covered in another thread but I thought I would mention it anyway. Do we know ... . where the race will be held yet?? The last time I looked I saw that there had been several suggestions but no final decisions yet. Again the Kerville was a huge success but I think the race day will be great as well... . just as long as we got a nearby campground for all the campers to park. Lets keep the suggestions coming... . I would love to see this rally even bigger than the last.

LOL @ 243

We are looking at a camp site as well as a race track, we don't think it would be smart to have one without the other.

We will definately do an event this year.

We have a few avenues that are available to us right now. We are also working in conjunction with the local Ford club to put on a combined event. This will allow us to pool resources from both clubs and really put on a show.

IF the racing event doesn't happen this year(funding may cause this situation), then my all means, I believe that Kerrwille would make a great rally location and I will be contacting Buckhorn Lake Resort and discussing the event with them. From what I've heard, they have expanded they campsite and they have that huge building in case the weather doesn't cooperate with us like it did last year.

As soon as we have some concrete decisions, I will certainly forward them along.

Thanks for the reply "gitchesum". I think a joint rally with the local Ford clubs is a great idea... . because I think this would attract more vendors. There is a local ford club here in Dallas that we can invite if you want more diesels. I am still a DODGE fan dont get me wrong but with the combination of fords and DODGES ... this could be big. Just my 2-cents. Let me know how we can help.
