2-Stroke Detroit Diesel 71 Series and 92 Series

Diesel emissions warning

Glad to hear. Me too. I had mine done in 03 w/129 k, now it has 189k.

Guess I should chime in too, "Thanks DTT for 60k trouble free miles, and more to come".

Almost forgot to mention: Big thank you to Tim Barber of TRE DIESEL PERFORMANCE for the build and giving me the starting point (a trans that won't slip, etc. ) to start dropping the Bombs. I stayed stock until the trans was done. He told me it was built to handle just over 400 easily. And, I could go more without boosted/4-wheel drive launches (I didn't go w/any billet shafts). Note HP/TQ to rear wheels in sig - and that was back in 07.

Yup! I had my '95 done in 2002. 100,000mi later it was still going strong.

I just sold that truck to another TDR member + got a new 2009. I need to update my profile.

My DTT was installed at 40k and truck now has 200k. Trans was only built for 350hp but I have been putting 450-500 through it for 160,000 miles. I recently had my first trouble with it, but that happened after I accidentally hit reverse while going 15 mph!

Less than 10% towing around 10,000 lbs. I am looking to get a trans for my 05' and was planing without question to go DTT, however I have heard a "rumor" about DTT changing the stators in the torque converters. Anybody else hear anything about it?

WELCOME Back Kevin!!!!!!... ... . Andy

P. S. -Tell Morrelli I want the Blue truck... . LOL!

Mine has about 130,000 km on it, shifts like the day they installed it and that includes lots of towing and dragging. Serviced every 20 km, couldn't be happier. Steve and Bill were awesome to deal with I refer every Dodge guy I know to them.

Too bad they aren't still around. I had my 01 done up at their shop in BC way back when I think it was 03. I got to spend the better part of the day with Bill, Shanti his wife, Stefan his son and Vinney one of his techs who did the magic to my trans. Sold it to my brother in law a few years ago now but 300k miles later still going.

I had some good conversations with Bill. I wish I hadn't been 3K miles away. I would have loved to visit them. I credit him with getting my 95 and 98 slightly modified automatics (#6 plates and GSKs) to 240 K and 180K OE.
When my 98 went south I talked to Bill and decided I think on the "Livestock" setup. He wanted me to go with billet shafts but I didn't. He thought I was going to want to add some more plate and an exhaust brake but all I wanted was to pull the fiver.
I talked to my local transmission shop and asked the owner to talk to Bill and see then if he really wanted to build the transmission or for me to get a crate transmission from them. I warned him that Bill was a bit of a character. He and a young fellow there laughed after talking to Bill but tackled the job building it and I haven't had a single problem since I drove it out of the shop.

I was up there in 2004-07 time frame many times. Bill chewed me out once for shifting from reverse to drive while the truck was still rolling backwards in the parking lot. It had the first DTT 48RE smart controller on my 47RE, that was suppose to unlock the TC for a second while doing lock to lock shifts. It still shifted very firm with their 89% TC. Stephan also installed my stage 1 Edge Jammer injectors and Edge Comp in EZ mode when they did the transmission build. Loved the way Old Blue performed. With 4:10's it just needed another OD ratio. Pretty sad about what happen to Stephan. Family just could not carry on after loosing him.

I know this is a LoveFest but my first DTT die at 150k. Nothing I did wrong as it basically was a commuter rig hauling loads in the bed and very little trailer towing. He said it bled to death internally. Said he had no control of the parts.

Built a new trans with different converter. I told him 3k gov springs and he built it for 4k. Tried to blame me, his wife just looked at me with a knowing smile.

When I got there to pick it up they were pulling it back out. Bolt heads too long for crank. Changed the bolts out to correct and did not re LocTite the bolts. I was watching. Made it to SoCal with a couple thousand miles on trans and it started knocking. Bill was NO help to get me to a Trans Shop or even offer to help pay. Total denial.

Babied it home with 3 bolts left holding flex plate. Took it to Randy's Off Road and they had a special jig made to drill out the crank to the next size bolt because the holes were screwed up.

Son has truck now and trans is fine with 200k on it.

Their business model was great in the beginning and then the Drag Racing became way more important.
