now can anyone tell me the best injector pump and and lift pump to buy... I have a 2002Dodge cummin diesel automatic... would appreciate any info... do I buy these at my dodge place--factory--or do I get a cheap set --what is the best? I don't want something that is real expensive that I don't really need--but---I want something that will do the best job. . I drive a lot on dirt roads where I work... thank for your info

Try Industrial Injection (www.industrialinjection.com), Blue Chip Diesel (www.bluechipdiesel.com)or Schied Diesel (www.schieddiesel.com)for your VP 44. All three sell reman pumps at good prices. I wouldn't go to the dealer unless it is under warranty. As for lift pumps I am sure other people will help you with a choice. I have the Vulcan Big Line Fuel Kit with the NAPA pump only because my daughter works at the corporate office of Balkamp which is part of NAPA & I get the lift pumps at a real good price.

I'll second that. I'd buy from a reputable rebuilder like the ones mentioned above before I'd buy from Cummins or the Dodge dealer. Cummins is the place for OEM internals, and gaskets, but not pumps and injectors, in my experience. Dodge is just too darned expensive.

i had a injector pump replaced at the dealer under warranty,,now looking back i have figured out that it wasnt the injector pump, but it was the lift pump,,i was told that the dealers are now under warranty installing the lift pump in the tank,?? so i decided to go to a orignal style pump,,then i wlll be relocateing it to under the bed closer to the tank,,via kit from genos,,

i looked around at napa 215. 00,,a and checked at a giant parts warehouse 300. . 00 for the carter lift pump,,i have a cummins parts warehouse near by,,called them 150. 54 for the same pump,,,

I forgot to mention earlier, but a fuel pressure gauge is a must for 98-02 ISB engines, good idea for all others. If you can see the pressure drop, you can take preventive/ repair measures. Geno's garage sells them for well under $100.
