I just wanted to thank John Strenkowski (TDR handle: CPFF) for his help in getting a vacuum pump seal kit out to me in just 2 days!! The kit was only $24 shipped! :)

I had never even realized that the vacuum pump was so problematic until I went searching the TDR to figure out what was wrong with mine. I noticed a good sized puddle of oil on the garage floor Monday night. After I got under the truck, I could see that it was dripping from the shaft that runs between the vacuum pump and the power steering pump. I had oil everywhere.

The instructions that came with the kit were easy to follow and the whole rebuild went without a hitch. I took around 5 hours to complete the R&R and rebuild. About an hour of that was cleaning up the oil mess on the engine, frame, and front end.

I'd also like to thank Cliffman for posting the R&R instructions for the VP/PSP. They were very helpful.

If you ever need a VP seal kit, John's email address is jvssyn@rcn.com.

FYI - If you need to R&R your VP/PSP, you will also want to pick up a new gasket that goes between the VP and the timing gear cover. It is Cummins part # 3008400 (for an '01).

Thanks again!

Steve
