Planning to leave on a trip to Northern California next week. I will be crossing Utah & Nevada on Highway US-50 which I come to find out is called "the Loneliest Road in America". I'm sure some of you TDR members know about it. I must be crazy, but that looks cool to check out as I've been a couple times up on I-80 and like a different way for a change

So I thought I better get some spare parts in event of a break down. I've had my eye on the Boonie Box.

My inventory on hand I have filters, air, fuel, oil and storage boxes in the garage. I only need 2 hoses, belt and Pulley Tensioner.

So, I check the local parts places and the 2 hoses, 1 belt and 1 pulley tensioner alone cost $100. 00 plus tax. #@$%!

Once again the good people at Geno's Garage offer good value.

I bought the Boonie Box kit, starter rebuild kit with 10mm, 12 point wrench, to boot for good measure.

I know that starter problem will rear it's ugly head soon enough what with ~168,000 miles on the clock. I'm going to be ready. :-laf

Couple weeks ago I washed the underside of the mighty Cummins, 5 speed trans, and transfer case.

Yesterday I popped in a new BHAF w/ new RED Outerware prefilter and was on the creeper looking for any major leaks and was happy I don't see any. Oo.

Off now to the brake shop for a look see/checkup.

Also, I've got to put the dog on the lookout for the"BROWN" truck. :-laf

Thanks again Geno's Garage!!!!Oo.

The only problem with Geno's is that their service is so good you begin to expect the same service from other retailers you deal with and you are generally disappointed. Geno's has always gone above and beyond for me!!!!!

Jay

Not only is their service unparalleled, but I have never dealt with anyone else where the
guy who answers the phone knows how to install everything they sell. At least that's
my experience.

I just received my package from the "Brown" truck. As per the usual everything came as requested. Time and again Geno's has outperformed all other retailers.

I travel highway 50 a bunch . If you have any questions please leet me know. I much prefer this from interstate 80 . You don't hassle with Salt Lake traffic . Don't be tempted to drive way over the speed limit. On the Nevada side the road is in really good shapeand 70 mph seems too slow. But it is patrolled especially closer to Ely, Eureka and Austin. Let me know if you have any questions. Sounds like you are well prepared for a break down. One Christmas trip we took I think we counted 5 car in about 300 miles so its lonely out there at times. Have fun. Brett

I've driven 50 a number of times without a single concern, even as far as Kansas from CA. While traffic is pretty light, there are cars occasionally.

Watch for the "Shoe Tree" on the north side of the road, can't recall just how far out it is.

I didn't take a fraction of your list towing my RV to Alaska with my '98 :-laf

Follow up to original post,

The trip was wonderful with no truck problems.

Remember the starter contacts I ordered just in case? Well about two months ago my starter failed and it was great to have them on hand for a quick repair. Oo.
