I got BD's stealth cover, and was gonna pop it on last night. Of course, I dropped the bit that came with the cover, and it's gone, history, kaput.

I work at a Dodge dealership running the bodyshop and no one here has the bit. It's like a torx #25, only it's got 5 little arms instead of 6.

This is frustrating, a butt simple job that's got me stuck. :{

check at Sears for the bit. I got a bit set and driver from sears for something link 45bucks that had 25 or so of the most common security fastener bits. I know it had several of the torx style ones in the set. May be worth a shot.

I might run up there tonight, unfortunately I bought a security set last night and they only had the 6 point bits.

I did find the 5 points on ebay. I will check Sears, and the Cornwell truck comes tomorrow, so maybe they'll have it?

sears doesnt carry the 5 star bits... the snap on truck didnt even have them when i checked

i have 1 or 2 of the 5 star security (hole in center) bits at my house here in essex dude, if you want to use one let me know, i'll be in the garage tonight if you feel like taking the ride down to baltimore county. thats if i can find it.

Thanks for the offer, the Cornwell driver THINKS he has a set on his truck, we'll see when he gets here tomorrow.

OT, where are you in Essex? I used to live down that way back in the 80's.

Yep just checked my craftsman set and they are all 6point. I got it to work on my Cuddeback digital trail scouting cam for huntin' instead of for my truck. I didnt even know that they had 5 point one.

One quick tip that you could try if the bit is too expensive or you have a buy 10 to get one. Got this tip from a prisoner in a state correctional facility. He said to take a end of a piece of hard plastic (he used a tooth brush) and heat it up with a lighter then press it into the secuirty fastener and hold it until it cools and hardens. It makes a perfect impression of the recess and when hardened is durable enough for a few screws worth of work. We used it on a switch plate that had the security torx heads on them when we didnt have the bit. It acutally worked.

This was back when I was helping my stepfather do electrical work.

Hope this helps,

PS there are a bunch of online stores that sell these bits too. Found them while looking for the bit for my trail cam. Do a web search and you will be able to find them.

I'm gonna try the prison shank method tomorrow... genius! :-laf I'll use a toothbrush, for realism.

Just call BD and get them to overnite you one. :cool:

Scott, I know it sounds hokey, but I've found weird sized tools at Pep Boys before. Check them; it can't hurt.
