call me crazy but keeping the battery cables clean saves me a lot of bs with this truck.

if i don't keep them clean the pump goes crazy and she has a start thing it likes to do where she only starts when she wants to.

so i just try to stay on top of it to keep me out of trouble.

I'm not much of an electrical guy, but could this indicate the need for better grounding on your truck? I don't have that much trouble with the electrical stuff on my truck, but one of the first things I did after reading a number of recommendations for it here in the forums, was to add some extra ground cables.

If I remember right, I did a 10 ga. cable from the block to the frame, a 10 ga. run from the block to the
neg. post on the passenger battery, and another 10 ga. run from the body to the neg. post on the drivers' side battery.

Regardless, corrosion on my battery terminals is minimal--I haven't even bothered to clean them in at least three years now.

sand and salt fun stuff, prep the surface on the grounds and you can use I cannot for the life of me remember the name of it but I got some coating spray from napa it sealed everything looks like a dark grey color now. but it seals it up like rubber cement. almost like a spray liner. but easy enough to take off if needed. you can try that also.

Don't know how much the salt air would affect the terminal corrosion. Usually it is caused by battery acid seeping up around the posts and getting into the terminals. The little red and green washers help some, you can also get an aerasol spray to clean the terminals and a protective spray that helps prevent future corrosion. A good coating of grease after cleaning will also help. bg

I was getting corrosion on 1 of my batteries. I got tired of cleaning it, so I replaced the batteries. That cured the corrosion problem.

The corrosion is from the liquid leaking up the post terminal.

AGM batteries like the Optima or Odyssey fix that because they have no liquid, but that comes at a price.

As my batteries go out in my vehicals I always replace with Optima from Costco.

In the mean time I use white lithium spray grease on the terminals. It gets in the nooks of the terminal and stops the corrosion. And its cheep.
