Flleetguard Enviroguard Question

What is the deal?? I am planning on doing a 40/55 combo. I don't know if the 55 is going to have the top end I want. I hear the B2 spools better than an ht3b and has more topend. So is this turbo one of the best bottoms turbos?? Is it 40 compatible? and no I dont want to afford a B1. I am over 500hp on a dynojet right now, what will this twin set up do to my hp?

I dont think there are very many around using one therefore responses are few and far between. I just put mine on today with a PDR HX40 and took it for a test drive. Initial results are that it spools faster than a HT3B but I dont think it flows anymore air. My smoke at full boost was still there (76psi). I'll have to do some more testing to see how much better, if any, it is over a HT3B though.

The 55 is a little to small if you want to run big boost numbers. I've been running the 40/55 with 22cm housing combo for 2 years and it works fine for keeping the headgasket in place. Gave me cooler temps and about 5psi more boost over the 40 alone. The trucks at 450hp.

Nathan, Trust me it is capable of moving Lots more air. The first thing I would do is test the Charge air temp. I bet it's lower with the B-2 verses the Ht3b. This should also show up as More HP and lower egt's.

Our engines/Intercoolers will not accept anywhere near the air CFM wise that even a single B-1 can flow. The Only reason we are having luck with bigger turbos on our trucks is due to the Cooler Denser Charge air. Thereby increasing the Oxygen available for Combustion. The more CFM we can get our CTD's to flow the more HP we will get from all of the turbo setups. Porting? Cams?, Rpm? maybe even a whole new Head design are next in our conquest for more hp. Kurt

Kurt,

That was only my first test run with the system and my WG on the 40 was held closed due to an oversight on my part. I only have about 3 miles on it as of now and I was reporting on first impressions only. My headgasket started seaping antifreeze again so I need to retorque it and try again.

Does yours whistle at low boost? Mine makes a funny whistling sound and I was wondering if it was common with the turbo.

It's just happy to be working under the hood of a high HP truck. It's waiting for you to put some power to it. (It's just a little boredm whistling away :D )

Mine has a fairly constant whistle with low boost but it is also there throughout the rpm band. At high boost levels it is pretty wicked sounding.

OK I got to do a little more testing and the B2 appears to somewhat better than the HT3B. I did take it a little easy on my headgasket after retorquing it though. I haven't done a full power run as of yet (I was waiting for a replacement headgasket just in case) but on a box OFF run I hit 62psi from a rolling start with about 1300* egt's. My box off hp was 430 the last time I dynoed. Driving home last night I did hit 68psi passing a car (box on 1-1).

I still have to do some tweeking with my wastegate to find the sweet spot with this new primary but it does show some promise. The whistling noise that it makes is kind of annoying though.

Nothing new to report as of yet Fred. I have been working on my driveshaft loops and waiting for a few new parts to try before hitting the dyno again. Hopefully by the end of next week I'll have dynoed and raced on either Wed. or Sat. to report track results as well.

Nathan

OK Fred and Kurt, I've got a few results :D . I dynoed today and did 692. 9hp with only 2 changes to the truck. One was the B2 instead of the HT3B and the other is a secret. I have a pretty good leak at the back of my 40 so I was only able to make 58psi on the dyno. Once I get that fixed I'm going to dyno again and also try a new set of injectors. I'm also racing on Saturday so I should have some times to report.

Great numbers, Good Work. Why not share your little secret:confused: . I should be back up and running this weekend with a little luck:rolleyes: . Then off to the track on the 10th for the DHRA race at Quaker City. Then hopefully Dyno on the 16th at Kaufmann's motorsports. Fred

Great numbers Nathan, track altitude sucks thought, 2000 ft and HOT. We need to get you to sea level... . keep up the R&D buddy! Think I'm going to run out of money and just let you'll pass me.

Jim,

Actually the track is closer to 3000' and your right it's been dang hot around here. It's street racing this weekend so I just want to go and eat up some fried rice :D . I just hope it cools down as the races progress (8pm-midnight).

I'll probably go to the DHRA race in Woodburn, OR on the 2nd and to Randy's Offroad event the next weekend up in WA. Hopefully I can get some good air at one or the other and turn up a low low 12 second pass or ,if I'm lucky, a high 11sec. run. One good thing about the elevation here is it will be harder to get kicked off of the local track as I get faster :)

Fred,

I gotta keep a few secrets man. If not then someone might pass me :D

Well I drive it on the street like that but most of the people behind me aren't usually impressed:D . I am going to try and do something about that in the next week or so. Yes it was drug free. The truck was very interesting on the dyno today. The left front corner raised up like a sled pulling truck without weights. The dyno operator said "man you should have seen the back end squat".
