Picking up my 01 Ram tomorrow. A/T/C, trailer tow, 4x4, folding tow mirrors, 5 speed, quad cab, grey in color. $37 800 Can. By the way I'm 21 and buying it on my own. (daddy don't have no money!):)

Join the club buddy.....

I owe so much money on my truck and all its toys sometimes I break into a cold sweat thinking about it... ... almost have as much cash sunk into it now as my brother paid for his acreage  but then his house doesn't have heated leather couches does it? :D You'll love it-I know I love mine. The oilpatch can be a hard place on trucks-but so far it's passed every test I've put it through with flying colors. Don't know that I'll ever have it rigged up the way I want it-days off seem to pass by way too quickly... whaddya gonna do though?

Again though welcome to the club of Cummins Ram ownership!

i'm a freak

all this talk of oweing the bank money makes me feel like a freak. I busted my but and saved every penny and bought mine. it was used if you call 17653 miles used. not making truck payments makes the addons come sooner. enjoy the ride.

Plowboy... welcome to the club... and the TDR! I started borrowing money from the bank when I was 15yo, dad had to co-sign my first two loans. He never made a payment, though. I am very proud of the fact that I have earned everything I own. You will be, too, although it would seem that it might be nice to get a gift like a Ram!

BTW, I still owe the bank, and it has been over 30 years! Enjoy your new ride.

I'm from Saskatchewan, but (like everybody else) I live in Alberta. Yes I work in the patch! I plan on going home more often so I needed a truck that was good on fuel, and reliable. My current truck is 1/2, a little gasser that gets about 23-25 mpg, but it has 260 000km and lost O/D about a year ago. The little s-10 has served quite well (color... rust he it's an 86) I plan on making the 2200 km round trip 1 or 2 times a month.

What is the best procedure for break in??

Heh I wish, I owe $570. 96 a month for four more years. And I have only had the truck for 11 months and already have 36 thousand miles on it. Guess i better make double payments to keep up with the depreciation.

You don't have a break-in period like a gasser has. Put a trailer on it, warm it up and drive it. Diesels like to be run hard and are designed to be run at full throttle for hours (or even days & months) at a time this way. Congradulation on your new toy, you'll love it!

ARRGH-Truck payments!!!

Plowboy, make those payments as fast as you can, as much as you can... you'll be glad once it's over.

Upside... It took me 13 months to pay off my truck.

Downside... During those 13 months, there was NO money for anything else (food, fun, wine, or women).

I feel like someone what's been just let out of the refer for a year!

Hey Plowboy where in Alberta do you work? Curious how far you are from me-I'm in east-central Alberta close to Drumheller... . if you're close to here maybe we can hook up sometime and compare notes (and trucks)

I'm working up in Fox Vegas (Creek) for B. P. doing field instrumentation.

LOL good old fox vegas, I use to live in Medicine Hat. We use to party hard for the ball tournament in fox vegas... ... ... ... ... good memories :D :D

Fox Creek hooooly cooow....

That's a long ways up there... . I've led a sheltered life I guess-never been north of Edmonton! Oh well, that's another story.....

I imagine a good instrument tech up there is in high demand eh? We have a hard enough time down here finding good ones-when I worked for EnerMark close to Stettler we used a local outfit that had really good guys. Now that I'm an OMERS man we use Pyramid out of Drumheller-they've got one super good instrument guy and another that's damn near as good. Makes your job operating a lot easier when you can get good instrument guys/mechanics/crew trucks etc.....

Hey Sky how long ago did you live in the Hat? When I still drove for a guy leased to Gibsons I used to get down that way once in a while... . had a run from the east side of the base at Suffield for AEC that came around through the Hat and back up to the northwest corner (up the 884 past Ralston). It was a water haul-fairly interesting in January!

Last year I bought a honda quad, took it home and I had to pry Dad's fingers off of it. I'm worried what I'll have to do to get him out of this truck when I go home. Any suggestions?

BTW I picked up the truck today. :D :D :D :

Hey Plowboy,

Don't worry about the payments ya gotta make. That's what makes the world go 'round. Just concentrate on the toys you'll buy! You work hard, you gotta play hard! Enjoy and watch the heads turn as you drive by.

Paid cash for mine but what the heck, at my age, 66, and still working for a living a fellow ought to be able to do that.

Hey you Canucks, I'll be through there in a few years to see you guys. I'm working for Fluor Daniel in Houston on the Alaska Natural Gas line that will bring gas from the Prudhoe Bay are down to somewhere around Edmonton to hook up to the existing pipeline grid for delivery on down to the lower 48.

Plowboy, you will enjoy your new ride.
