its amazing how much power and fuel mileage suffer when there is a boost leak , or lack of boost even when there is 500 plus on tap .

ever since that HX40 went belly up my truck just hasn't been right and smoking like a 12V :D:D . first i found the piece of intake cover plate gasket between the 2 inboard air horn/heater grid bolts completely gone , no wonder it wouldn't hold boost on the road ...

after i fixed that there was still lo boost , kept pressure checking and couldn't find a leak . i had a 200k mile borrowed turbo with no wastegate boost elbow tap or anywhere to mount my 2000 model wastegate actuator , had the wastegate on my exhaust housing wired shut ... note to self , DO NOT USE ALUM WIRE TO HOLD SOMETHING SHUT ... . when i went to swap back my US Postal Service fumbled turbo ,... long story ... i found the wire that i used to hold the wastegate shut was broken been driving around for 2 weeks with the wastegate flapping in the breeze so to speak , still made 32psi at WOT  . now with that fixed my boost is back , along with the power and hopefully my 5 mpg that went away .

life is all good again as i thought i hurt something real bad inside the mighty cummins ... now my trans , thats a different story

jeff , lo 14's are still in this transmission , hi 13's are only a turbo away ...

bob w , james help me , i'm trying to help him not break things like me ... .

big bob , glad to be back , though not as much as usual ... busy busy . .
