I am constantly impressed with the Vulcan Big Line kit. Easy to install, and great FP. Plus the LP is easy to change :-laf Just have two line clamps unless you want a diesel bath.

Even with my extra inline 10 micron fuel filter I see 16PSI idle and 12 PSI WOT.

Someday I want a RASP but until then this works great.

The only issue is you lose your Schrader valve at the VP. This will cause issues with dealers and repair shops in general. I'm still searching for a 1/8" NMPT to Schrader ( this will fix the problem ), if anyone has a lead on a 1/8" NMPT to Schrader PLEASE let us all know.

Texas Diesel is absolutely right. I too have installed the Vulcan kit which relocates the lift pump down by the frame. I am impressed with how little the fuel pressure is affected by load with the larger fuel lines and fittings as there is almost no dip in pressure with full throttle! Vulcan provides excellent customer support should you have any questions regarding the installation. Oh, did I mention very fast shipping too? Stay tuned to this thread and I'm sure you'll hear many more chime in with positive comments.

Installation tip: Buy a bottle of wine to enjoy while you read the installation instructions, preferably a bottle with one of those synthetic corks. Drill a hole halfway through the cork, slightly undersize of the metal fuel line diameter. Have the cork ready when you're under the truck cutting the fuel line. When you cut the line, quick jam your modified cork over the cut line from the tank to stem the flow of diesel on your face. (Works great!) Depending on how much wine you drank you may not care how messy you get cutting into the fuel line though. Enjoy!

Excellent product, excellent customer service, easy install, great results. No I'm not a dealer either ;)

The only other mod around $100 or less I feel the same way about is the white knight backup light kit. WOW :D It's like I have headlights on both ends of the truck now!!!

I have the (now defunct) Wildcat MaxFlow fuel kit in my truck and it made a HUGE difference in FP, most noticeably when the PM3 is turned up higher.

Question #1: Will it render my MaxFlow kit obsolete (money down the drain) if I get the Vulcan kit?

Question #2: Can the Vulcan kit be used to mount a Carter pump on the frame rail, while keeping my stock LP and MaxFlow kit?

Anyone else done this? Whoops, that's question #3...

Thanks

Tim

I agree! This kit is awesome! It took me a while to get it installed (3hrs), but that was mainly due to me being a little slow after a few beers. The fuel pressure reads around 14 at idle and no lower than 11 at WOT. I do not know what the FP was previously because I made the gauge installation part of the overall fuel system upgrade.

Vulcan has a dual pump wiring harness that will do what you want.

I have had my fuel pump relocated to the in tank unit per the dealer when my last vp44 bit it. Does this big fuel line kit work with my set up? Sounds like something I should definately get if it does.

Texas Diesel

I don't understand how this refrigerator fitting is going to allow you to have both the schrader and the vulcan fitting at the VP44; are you going to install a tee and have both fittings on the VP 44 inlet?

Hang on, I'll take a picture.

Eric made a dual 1/8" VP adapter to screw the Schrader into.

The SS fittings are the top row. The bottom right is the dual 1/8" tapped VP bolt. Bottom left is a brass 90* to get the schrader facing away from the engine.

Like this. Obviously the 90* fitting may have to angled to allow easy access for the FP tester.

The 1/8" Schrader fitting will screw into the 90* brass fitting.

Eric drilled two 1/8" NFPT holes in the VP bolt so I can have a choice of positions to use.

You could also use the other 1/8" NFPT port for your FP gauge line.

I used 1/8" 90* "street" elbows, 45* elbows may work as well if not better.

I re read your question. The Schrader is the type of connection the mechanic will use to connect his FP too. It is the same as the OEM fitting on the VP you have now.

Great idea; I like. I have the vulcan kit all ready I wonder what eric will want for the fitting. Let us know how this works. If any thing else just leave the 90 fitting off and cap with a end plug and install the scharder when and if you need it. From your signature TexasDiesel you are way beyond warranty items...

Yep, best cheap mod yet. Great customer service. Definately find a way to catch the flowing diesel when you cut that line though! I was covered. But that is no different from any other big line kit. I can pull it to 10psi at a true WOT with the stock LP. Idles at 12-13.

Another vote for Vulcan here. Eric has helped me plumbing some experimental pumps and his Customer service is top-notch. His kit is easy to do and easy to service as well. I have literally had to pull every fitting on and off chasing bugs with my X-pumps and the kit is up for the task.
