In reading through the posts I noticed that nobody,

with the exception of one complaint about hard to get to

bolts on the fuel pump, complained about the engine.

I bought my truck in 1992,not because it is a Dodge but,

because it is a Cummins Turbo Diesel powered truck. I

can put up with the mediocre truck just to have the engine.

All things considered, this is the best truck I have ever owned.

:D :D

I actualy feel the cab & doors are verry poorly built I am buying left & right doors & fixing the rust on the floor I peeled off the sealer where the floor meets the sil & kickpanel & the fitment is verry poor also I think the steel isent that good either I had ground off some of the rust to find the holes & get to bare metal to paint I than pressure washed the inside of the cab & within 1/2 hour it started to rust I dident sand it & paint it came back 2 days later & the rust was pretty bad so after I cut out the rust & made the new floor plates I painted it.

I had a 68 W300 that was a bad a$$ truck too bad they dident have the cummins engine then Im thinking when this cab rusts out Ill try to find a military powerwagon cab to put on

I am a newbie first cummins & Im pretty much restoring the thing

89 D350 soon to be a bad A$$ service truck :)

I look at it this way. For a company that was on the verg of closing the doors when our trucks were new. They made a good product to have lasted this long with few complaints.

Agreed. I like my truck, and have no intentions of getting rid of it.

I also know that every brand and every make has their "cheesy" components and/or engineering aspects(what, in life, DOESN'T?). I was merely venting my frustration with a certain component that I personally think could have been designed MUCH better, and I thought it would be interesting to see what everybody else get's miffed about.

Now, what get's to you?;)

Been said already but yes - Getrag, fuse panel and headlight switch.

Also, front top corners of p/u bed are failing with cracks from weight of tool box. The metal in the corners are mighty thin.

They could have included heaters in the power mirrors.

But . . . . I love her!

:) ;) Oo.

The thinness(poor quality) of the steel used in cab, doors, and bed. I have stress cracks all over, I had never seen stress cracks around door handles before buying Dodge, like many before me I bought the Cummins engine, which unfortunately only Dodge was smart enough to put into a truck, and I do like the Dodge styling... I also wonder why they did not offer a 70 series front axle in this truck, I think they did in the late 60's or early 70's on their W300's... . on the way to drop of my 5 year old at school this morning she exclaimed that the only thing wrong with this truck is that the bracket that holds the radio remote is inside the between the seats console rather than outside... .

not exactly cheesy but...

complaints: bouncy benchseat, no useful backseat, no crew cabs, poor paint, crappy fuse panel, placement of jack, p. o. s. steering joint, cowl cracks, front springs on D models too soft, too hard on W models, kink in exhaust over axle, herky jerky cruise control, turning radius, plastic interior pieces and not enough sound proofing.

But..... I would'nt trade it for anything ... . yet. :)

The cheesist thing about our trucks is the TOTAL lack of aftermarket stuff for our trucks. It is terrible to find cool items for our first gens.

The thing I like the least on my truck, ironically, I had added, a lund moonvisor. Looks good standing still, but it refuses to work with the trucks aerodynamics or lack thereof:D . The wipers don't like it, the wind doesn't like it, I don't like it! Guess it will have to come off and the holes welded shut!!

That's exactly why my visor is sitting in the shed, collecting dust... . just couldn't handle the buzzing noise at freeway speeds. Anyone want to buy a Lund Moonvisor?;)

I have to agree on the fuse box design. When I bought my truck the fuse box was tied to the steering column with a piece of string - guess the previous owner didn't know how to get it back in place.
