I admit... I'm thinking of going to the dark side. . you know... . something with over 12 valves :D :D ..... I am thinking of swaping my truck for an 04, four door automatic, 4wd with 110K miles.

The only reason is three kids and a wife that hates my five speed. It may be time to get something with more room and that the wife can drive.

My truck and the one i'm lookin at are very clean.

What should I be able to get for my truck... with mods.

I think I might be able to do it for 10-11K difference... .

Any opinions? Anyone hear of any problems with the 04's?

I have to say that if you go with the 3rd gen, you'd be stepping into the light!!! :D I drove a 98, 12 valve, and I like my 05 much better. Dont get me wrong... my 98 was a great truck but I dont think I could ever go back to the 12 valve. I also had an 03, and while it was great on fuel mileage (21-23mpg)... it really lacked in the power department, but it was bone stock. I traded it in for a 2005 and I couldnt be happier!!!! Good luck!!!!

Come on over to the properly-valved side..... you've been under-valved toooooo long. :-laf

You'll love the better braking, smoooother ride, quieter engine, (did I just say that ? :D ) faster winter warm up times, and the ability to go back to stock with just a flip of a switch.

Anybody know of any quirks in the 04 model year?

Obviously the newer the better. . but if the 04 didn't have many issues I'd be content with it.

I have a 04 305/555 and love it. I'd say that you can't go wrong. Easy power adder, no smog, electronic controled wate gate crap. After 113,000 miles she's just getting better with time and of course a few little things here and there for it along the way, like a intake, SPS 62 and 5 inch turbo back, BDDL stuff like that... :-laf

Somewhere in 04 they changed stuff by stuffing a kitty cat into the exhaust so you might want to make sure of what it has exactly, perhaps you already know this but I figured I would mention it since I can't tell from your post if you are looking at an 04 or the 04. 5 version.

I recently got an 03 and am very happy.

Mine came with the banks 6 pack or whatever setup already installed so I am pretty happy with the power.

I might look for more power whenever the truck needs a new clutch since right now I figure much more power will kill the current clutch and I have no clue how long the current clutch will last.

I got my truck in feb and as far as the value on the trucks, I have no clue since some used trucks are selling for about what you could order a new truck for with all the deals they offer on new stuff during some months.

Yeah...come to think of it... the 04 that I have a shot to buy has a cat..... my buddy straight piped it. Around here you can get away with it.

I'm not sure is my buddies truck is an HO... . what motor options( HP) were available in 04?

I think that his will book out for around 20-21K with 110K miles... I think mine should book out for around 9K.

I don't know... I love my 12V... but his 04 is nice and I can haul the whole family around... . 10-11K difference doesn't seem too bad.

I have a 2004 3500 4X4 DRW Quad-cab with only 25000 miles, original sticker was $42,500.

I considered tradeing it in for a mega cab. It has a top of the line ARE cap, DEE-ZEE running boards, a brake smart, rino spray liner & a bed rug, and a dual boost/EGT guage in a SRT-10 A member pillar. White with gray cloth interior, and a fold flat floor.

The truck is mechanically perfect and has no dents or paint chips. so it's like new.

They offered me $26,000 for it.

I don't not let it go, but this may help you with what a truck almost sold for last week.
