Goodbye Commander hello diesel Liberty??

Vintage Cummins firing up

Well - (sh) it happens??? (thanx Sugarland) the 'other' has surrendered her Commander for the aforesaid Jeep oil burner!! Yes matrimony hath brought her from the dark side. I will say after 2 hour test drive—more front seat room than the ex-commander and MUCCH moe low-end torque (she blew off 2 cars at green lights from the start—help me!!). SHE says I made her what she is: WHAT HAVE I DONE??!!:-laf Thanks all for the advice.

Well we now have the Libby - and I have one other question for you owners—

I've noticed several times at startup that the glowplug lite (in the outer arc of indicators left side does not lite when the key turns to on or cranks. However the Libby starts fine and it has been 65°F plus each time. Is this function a condition-specific event (i. e. clod weather starts) or should that glowplug lite come on regardless of temperature. Just wondering if it needs addressing before the purchase warranty runs out. Don't yet have the service manual which would normally be my go-to.

Mine never comes on unless it is very cold (around freezing) and I am so used to my Cummins with no wait that I often forget to wait even when cold. It always starts right up anyway.

I seem to recall ours got a flash for glow plug performance very early in its life. The light in ours comes on for about 5 seconds every time its started. -Vic
