just got back from my first dyno run with my new toy. not too shabby, though not as much power as i was expecting.

'01 eth/dee some sort of mystery injectors, and a comp that has not yet molested the pump wire.

comp off>>>>>>242. 5 HP 474. 6 TQ

comp on(no wire) 269. 2 HP 522. 3 TQ

this was on a Dynojet.

so, is it me or are the no box numbers seem a bit low??

Looks normal.

Where you really need to look for the improvement is in the lower RPM's.

The question I would be asking is whats with the mystety injectors?

looks great to me.

your mystery injectors look like they may be standard output (235) INJECTORS, they are making less power than 275's would in an ETH with an EZ.

EZ+275's = very close to 300 HP... and a toasted clutch if you get in it hard at about 1800 RPM in 6th on an ETH.

the injectors came with the truck. i havent been able to get a hold of the previous owner to verify this. but it smoked big time when i got it and could make 34# boost with a fooler. thats why i thought they were bigger than the dyno seems to indicate.

one question, what is the normal routine for dyno pulls? 5th gear? the guy running the dyno had it in 4th. i wouldnt think gearing would have anything to do with numbers.

run the truck in 5th ie. direct on the six speed

i thought so... but its his dyno. i figured he knew what he was talking about. so how would running it in 4th effect HP numbers?

In a 5 spd, 4th would be 1:1, in YOUR 6 speed, 5th is 1:1. If the guy normally does cars, he would probably think 4th is 1:1 as it is in the BW T-56 in the Corvettes/Camaros/Firebirds.

5th will show more power.

i even asked him what gear he was in and he said "4th, but it doesnt make a bit of difference on an inertia dyno"

i had heard of this dyno through this board and figured he knew what he was doing.

The Dynojet is excellent. If the operator had done some experimenting, he would know to use 5th or 6th gear. I dynoed one ETH, almost new, at 228 hp, 270 with 275 injectors. The mystery injectors must not be much, maybe stock 5 speed parts. The DD1s give around 70 hp in an ETH, and Diesel Dynamics 3s give about 120 hp. Thus, excellent power increases from injectors can be had.

well... the question i think i have now, is how much power would i have made if the operator knew what he was doing:(

looks like im back at square one.

EDIT: and would 235HP injectors in an ETH be leaving clouds from a stop sign under moderate throttle???

Those numbers seem inline with what I got from a VA box on my truck but you do have injectors too. The great thing about the timing boxes is not that they add alot of peak HP and torque but I saw like 150 ft lbs of torque increase down low. the timing boxes help you at lower rpms which isnt going to give you big peak number increases. If you have a graph of both runs look at the change in torque at say 1900 rpm. I'll bet you got a big gain there
