Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) the edge comp "safe zone"

i have had an edge comp in the box for months now. The wife and i got a 3rd vehicle ,and now i have a backup in case the truck doesn't want to get dirty, rained on, or she breaks ( named her Rhonda ). My question is will my stock auto take the extra power from the comp? I'm not planning on pulling a sled, or running it on the 4 or 5 level all day long. Just the everyday driving with an occasional trip to the drag strip or pulling a dump trailer.
