454 to B5.9 motorhome engine swap?

5th wheel and 4x4 height

Thought some of you might enjoy this...

Start with a cage containing five monkeys. In the cage, hang a banana on a
string and put a set of stairs under it. Before long, a monkey will go to
the stairs and start to climb towards the Banana. As soon as he touches the
stairs, spray all of the monkeys with cold water. After a while, another
monkey makes an attempt with the same result - all the monkeys are sprayed
with cold water.

Pretty soon, when any monkey tries to climb the stairs, the other monkeys
will try to prevent it. Now, turn off the cold water. Remove one monkey
from the cage and replace it with a new one. The New monkey sees the banana
and wants to climb the stairs. To his horror, all of the other monkeys
attack him. After another attempt and attack, he knows that if he tries to
climb the stairs, he will be assaulted.

Next, remove another of the original five monkeys and replace it with a new
one. The newcomer goes to the stairs and is
attacked. The previous newcomer takes part in the punishment with
enthusiasm.

Again, replace a third original monkey with a new one. The new one makes it
to the stairs and is attacked as well. Two of the four monkeys that beat him
have no idea why they were not permitted to climb the stairs, or why they
are participating in the beating of the newest monkey, but they do it
anyway.

After replacing the fourth and fifth original monkeys, all the monkeys
which have been sprayed with cold water have been replaced.

Nevertheless, no monkey ever again approaches the stairs. Why not?

Because that's the way it's always been around here.

And that's how company policy begins.

Good one. I printed it and I'm taking it to work. Believe me, when it comes to rediculous policies that make no sense, the company I work for tops them all! It's like living in a living Dilbert comic strip 40 hours a week!

Somewhere along the line one of the monkeys should have called the BA of the "International Union of Monkey Business" and filed a grievance for harrassment and entrappment while trying to climb the ladder of success. If arbitration ruled in the monkey's favor, they could all receive banana back pay and put a stop to the hose job from upper management!

I enjoyed that!

"68 xlh sportster stroker with electric starter removed from cases. Install xlch primary cover for installation into early sportster frame. Sifton "C" cams. Manley valves. S & S pistons and rods. Blah, Blah, etc.

Cummins power reminds me my stroker Harley.

That sounds like a radical Sporty! My FatBoy is stock with the exception of a Dynojet kit and Supertrapp 2-1 header. I like the drag pipes better but the Supertrapp literally sucks the air through the motor when it kicks in.
My Cummins is very much like my Harley. Dodge and Harley even teamed up in Sturgis SD for bike week for some sponsorship. I liken my 12v to a Panhead and the new 24v to an Evolution. A straightpiped Cummins has a throaty growl that's very similar to a Harley with strightpipes. Minus the turbo whistle. Unless you turbocharge your Harley!

I've seen some wild stuff on Harleys that is for sure. You may have seen webers on a harley, that is a unique look. Guys have put injection on too. Seems in my DNA blueprint the horsepower section is significantly larger than the average commuter.

I hadn't thought that through like you did relating the pan to the 12v, and the 24v to the cone motor or evolution, but I can see that.

Could we make a comparison between the knucklehead and a PSD?

I prefer to relate the Powerstroke to a Honda Valkrie. It's high tech; alittle faster than a Harley; and a big obvious semi-copy of a Harley. And I'll admit it looks good and is quiet. But it's a throw away motorcycle. In 20 years folks won't even know it ever existed.
The new Harley dressers are fuel injected. I'm happy with my CV carb although the turbocharger exhaust kit with fuel injection is attractive! I'd like to have one... I watched the boys on Shadetree Mechanic install one on one of their Harleys.
I've seen the big dual Webers on Harleys too. The riders with their right knee out in the breeze! If I ever have to replace my carb, it'll probably be a simple S&S E. I beleave they're actually less $$ than a replacement imported carb from Harley.

I was being sarcastic with that knucklehead comparison as you may have guessed. Was hoping to associate the slang version with the PSD owners. Just happens to be a legitemate (cool looking) version HD from what vintage would you say 1940?

If you change carbs, check out the big mikuni with the accelorater pump. Starts easy with couple pumps of fuel and then runs at fast idle till you shut of the inrichener.

My Sport was kick start only, and my my my was that a challenge.

I caught your humor with the knuckle head association with the PSD owners. Kinda like the 3,000 stooges! I beleave the knuckle head was produced until 1949 when the Panhead was introduced. The knuck was refered to at the time as the 74 overhead. Or 74 OHV. The 45 flathead that it replaced was still used up until I think 1965 in servicars. Meter maids and mail trucks in the city. One year in Daytona we saw a 1929 Nearacar pull up to the Boothill Saloon and park with the rest of the bikes. That's the oldest M/C I've seen being ridden instead of trailered around for show.
I like the Mikuni carb but I've heard they don't like the salty air we have in west central Florida. I can imagine it could cause problems with the slide. So far I haven't had any problems with the stock CV carb. The Dynojet kit works great with it.

1929 has me beat although I did ride a 1938 80" flathead, it was pretty cool! Wasn't the "K" model a flathead, HD's flat track and road race engine. I think production ran up till near 1960.

I follow you on the potential problem with the slide on the mikuni, it'll ruin your day if it sticks WIDE OPEN!

I had to give up motorcycles, along with rock n roll bands and other stuff not condusive to longetivity. I just have a Cummins vice now!
