Thanks, TDR Staff

Any ideas for theft deterrent on trucks with sliding back glass?

Medium and HD Truck Truck parts sourcing online

The really horid problems that plagued the 2003s are pretty much ironed out. There are more complaints on this site because:

1. There are more Fords sold.

2. Ford owners are more knowledgable and discriminating, thus more demanding of perfection.

3. This site is easy to use, thus more postings.

I am coming up on 30,000 miles on my 2004 built Oct 03. Had a problem with a water in fuel idiot light coming on. Ford fixed it with a new part that Ford redesigned and installed under warranty. I have a clunk in the drive train, not loud, that has been under investgation for about 4 months. My dealer says he can not find it but that since it is now well documented with him, he will fix it if something breaks, regarless of mileage.

Moral here is, what really sells Ford to me is good service from the dealer. Find a good dealer who will stand behind the product.

That is so pathetic.

"... has 13,000 miles. Not one single problem (but I do have minor romps... )"

"Feels great, 3,000 miles and no problems, best truck I have ever owned. "

"I have had zero problems with my 03 PSD, I have 13500 miles on the clock. "

Give me a freaking break. First of all, romping would be considered a problem! Second of all, these said engines are below 20,000 miles! I have 110,000 on my Dodge and have had ONE lift pump and ONE leaking PS pump.

But, we are talking 6. 0s, if a 6. 0 makes it past 1000 miles with no problems it must be a keeper!

These guys are so blind its stupid. I just love the guys that are their 2nd or 3rd and still claim its the best truck and engine out there.

Last year, I saw a post there from one guy that had his first truck bought back at 2500 miles due to engine failure (fuel in oil) and had been into the shop about a dozen times for reflashes and some other things.

His new one had 1500 miles, ONLY been to the dealer twice for just reflashes. Also said it was his best truck yet, even though it hadn't surpassed his last one in mileage.

A bright bulb there.

I had a guy that new of the issues... admitted he could buy nothing else. Bought a 03 PSD. 5000 miles and it filled the engine with fuel. They repaired it. Filled again... he drove it till it blew up. They put another motor in it.

He says he loves the truck.

I just read that.

Nothing really new. The Ford had lousy steering, the GM had lousy IFS suspension and car like qualities and the Dodge acted like a truck.

DG you are too wrapped up in the 1/4 mile. That means nothing unless racing is your desire.

Now if only the articles would speak of reliability, the Ford would be SOL

Easy! A Ford is all those guys deserve :D

And, now you can figure out why!

The majority of them wouldn't know a waterpump or injector if it bit them in the a$$. To prove the single digit IQ of some of these brainiacs look for all the posts that read... "Yep, besides living in the dealership for the first 6 months of it's life with, Romp's, Oil leaks, Blown Turbo, 3 of 8 faulty injectors replaced, bad wire harness, front brakes that don't work, A/C that doesn't work, 27 reflashes later that took my mileage down to 12... . Why it's the best dern truck I ever owned and would buy another without hesitation... . Sure this is not across the board and there are some, ok a couple, smart ferd guys over there..... Ford Brand loyalty with cost you 40K.....

I like that. Brand loyalty will cost you 40k. Im kinda dissapointed in all three manufacturers right now. Its all the little schmidt thats adding up. This is one of their most expensive vehicles and they should be completely trouble free for 100k. One warranty repair would not be out of the norm but being on a first name basis with the service writer sucks. It is unacceptable. Im going on strike. Old junkers for me til they make a more reliable product.

Lets be realistic here, I'm sure they all have at least double digit IQ's. :D Oo.

Here's the thing. There are problems and then there are PROBLEMS. I'm not talking about when the door locks quit working. Or a lift pump taking a dirt nap. It really doesn't matter what emblem you hang on the grill these are going to break once in a while. But when your engine needs a fricken diaper, and ford fights you on a warranty to replace just ONE of 8 known bad injectors filling your crankcase with diesel..... Come on... Who needs it?

Saw an add in the paper last weekend from one of the local dealers here in Western Washington... . It read POWERSTOKE! 2003 crew cab 4x4 with just under 10K miles..... RUN LIKE HECK FOLKS from this one... .

Probably one the most interesting things to me is some of these folks on the Ford site couldn't wait to dump their cackling 1998. 5-2002 Powerstrokes after fighting Ford for years trying to get it fixed and have them denying anything was wrong... . Once again they are faced with the perception of a heap of garbage for a truck.

I mean really, If you had some of the troubles that some have had with these 6. 0's could you feel you have trust in it even if they did say they fix the problems? So you take it in for the dead pedal problem and they flash it... For ever more I'd be wondering what hill that thing was going to crap out on... .

So the old underpowered cackler is looking pretty good to some over in the 7. 3L forums right now... . There stock just went up... We have several older powerstrokes in the family, Problems other that a cackle here and there = 0.

I don't know Animal... . Anyone coming back for 3rd's on 6. 0's after fighting the buy back process is a few cans short of a six pack... . And for that matter any newbie taking advice from one of them and buying one from said device also should probably check themselves in somewhere... .

:D

The 3rds after a buyback seems a little weird to me too. I lost a few seals and I didnt buy another one. It ran great and had 40k on it when I sold it. Couldnt afford the downtime. I used it for work. That made me shy away for awhile.

My last dodge went to the shop one time between 20k(thats when I bought it) and 100k. Also it was a first year production engine and the truck had been revamped for that model year. That says a lot about quality.

My new one has been in once also since I bought it 40k ago. I did replace a cps sensor so I guess that would be twice. I think my next one will be a 12v. I sure wish I could get the 90s body style ford with a 12v. I did like the looks of that truck. Ext cab short bed 4x4 please and can I get that in white? My dad has a 94 prepsd that I could make into a donor but its had a hard life.

Was my fav.

I agree 100%. A really minor problem that the bad dealer won't fix is way more aggravating than a more major problem that a good dealer just takes care of.

I've YET to bring my wife's explorer in for something and not have them take care of it 1st time.

Having it fixed right the first time is invaluable to me. It is very difficult for me to get the vehicle down there for service. I dont want to do it twice.

Here is a good laugh

buddy of mine is a diehard Ford fan, truck is a ford (not a PSD), wifes car, lawn tractor, you get the picture. anyhow, he always tells me what a better truck the ford is and the PSD is a better engine:rolleyes: but every time he has to haul or tow something larger than a softball my phone rings;) i hear... my truck is tied up, or the wife has it, or some wonderful excuse that just makes me laugh. he is still a good buddy, but can't convince him that a dodge with a cummins is the way to go... i always hear, if ford would just use a cummins, or another buddies truck, a PSD, is unavailable, or has a weak clutch... which is another story... went boating, hauling two boats... lets just say the mighty cummins walked all over the PSD in the mountians:D :D the excuse i heard was "i was taking it easy because my clutch is slipping"... at 60k miles... hhmmmm!!
