Thanks, TDR Staff

I drove this for 1 year.

600 Hp RV

This is the best cummmins commercial i have seen in a long time. I'll try to describe it the best I can. :D :D

Alright, so I'm about halfway through a Friday night's sixpack of silverbacks and TV watchin when on comes a new Ram commercial. It shows a new Ram rippin' down a dirt road and I'm thinkin' great another "my Hemi this, my Hemi that" commercial. Then the announcer starts talking about, (and I start payin' attention') the new 600 pounds/feet reengineered cummins. (I believe pound/feet is correct where as we always say ft/lbs).

Then the cummins slides up in front of the local feed store where there is a superduty blocking the loading dock. The cummins driver gives a "move your diesel burnin gas motored POS" honk ( my words). In response a pretty-boy cowboy who is talking on a pay phone gives a "in a minute wave. " Then the announcer says "the dodge ram has the best in class towing if you should ever need it. " About then the ram throws the hook on the ford and drags it backwards with the tires squealing, out of the way of the loading dock.

Now I have a little blue oval in me but I recognize a good truck when I see it and this is by far the best add I have ever seen. I think we can all relate to having some moron park their wagon in the way at a gas pump, county fair, horse show or rodeo etc. no matter what brand it is.

Every time I see an idiot parked in the way I dream of how much fun it would be to drag thier a$$ just once around the parkin' lot (CDB's words) and what the weight would be compared to hookin' on to a sled. Anyway I thought I would be the first to post about a main steam commercial that doesn't tout the PR conceived imaginary hemispherical head engine. I believe I saw it on NBC??

Watch for it; it is pretty funny IMO!! Oo. Oo.

I just saw it yesterday morning. LOL

I think the Ford owner gave a one finger salute, not a in a minute wave.

Nice to see DC is finally pushing the CTD.

I haven't seen that yet, either--guess it's time to start watching more television!:D

Oh, and BTW--not to be nitpicky, but it's not ft/lb, it's ft-lb. ft/lb would be pounds per foot, which is a load distribution, not quite a pressure measurement (psf). Torque is a force times a lever arm (putting 200 pounds on the end of a one-foot lever or putting 100 pounds on the end of a two-foot lever will both give you a torque of 200 ft-lb).

Foot-pounds and pounds-feet are both commonly used (and correct, AFAIK), but ft-lb seems to be prevalent in the US.

They are interchangeable but it is lb ft. We sat ft lbs, and it does work for the math problem, but it is incorrect. Ive never heard em say pounds though. Normally its said pound feet. I guess 600 would definitely be plural. ;)

I like newton-meters, myself. For the math, anyway--as much as I've used the metric system, I still can't 'think' in kph, or meters, or any of that...

in my interperation, i would have to say that ford owner was telling the guy in the dodge his truck was number one. he he

I thought you all were just joking about the one finger salute thing, but I saw the commercial again and I think you are right. I noticed that you only see the ford guys hand from the palm down and the general arm hand motions seem to match... .

I think thats a pretty good jab at flowerstroke drivers and the way some of them act.

Sorry about the ft-lb typo you all gotta quit reading so careful;)

I know better -I took statics but I just put a / instead of a -

The way I see it ft-lb and lb-ft are interchangeable because the units are multiplied so they are both correct. ;)

I agree metric units are easy to work with but they are hard to fathom if you didn't grow up with it. Its like learning a second language- you have to convert it you your terms in your head before you can understand... We'll never no who's unit is best:D

Smoke em if ya got em..... tires that is

Have you guys seen the latest Dodge/Cummins commercial? Contractor gets a 3500 with "the legendary Cummins Turbo Diesel", then uses it for his plumbing, electrical, construction, businesses, much to the confusion of the gate guard at a construction project.

Seems terribly uninspired. A real sleeper. I don't really even understand the point. What, the Dodge can be used for many different businesses? So can any vehicle!

I have to admit, I think Ford has the best commercials (commercials about ridiculous minutia like bed bolts notwithstanding) - they really make the trucks "look" tough. Maybe that explains their sales?
