ATS Trans - Help me out please

ATS - Cool people!

I first heard that the price on the 24v Bosch 275 RV injectors was going up from Rod at Wildcat Diesel. Then I read on one of the threads here at TDR that Bosch had upped the price . . . this time the news was from Joe Donnelly(sp?). Now, I've confirmed it again by talking with Midwest Diesel Service. They are the firm that offered the 275RV injectors on ebay for $225. 00

NOT Anymore!

Bosch has reportedly halted production on the 275 RV injector and will only be supplying them on a "special order" basis. (this from Midwest Diesel).

I know that DD and Bullydog (and others) are reputed to make OUTSTANDING hi-po injectors for our 2nd Generation trucks, but where is the low cost alternative now? I'm afraid there will not be one.

Oh well, another episode of "a day late and a dollar" short for me.

Speaking for myself and not for the board.....

The same thing has been done with the 185's for 1st gens... . they have gone up in price by a full 100%-105%.

That is outrageous... borders on price fixing, punitive and is definitely gouging in it's truest form...

Aint there a law about stuff like this... ????

Unconfirmed rumor has it that DC and or Cummins snivelled and howled about the sale of "low priced" performance injectors being sold.

As if DC, or Cummins was in the all out aftermarket performance game for us CTD'rs... as if they didn't RUN from warranty issues when alternate injectors were found on vehicles...

Another rumor has it that Chrysler will be publishing some 3 different catalogs of aftermarket stuff... . keep you eye's peeled for "performance injectors"..... just rumor mind you...

Man this roasts my biscuits big time...

Bob.

It itns't gouging, fixing, or anything like that. The simple facts of business are that when something is no longer a current item maintaining it in inventory is more costly -- and producing it is way more costly. The 275s are no longer produced in mass quantities for new production run vehicles therefore they are going to get more expensive. That's common sense.

If I was wanting 275s right now I'd certainly give the alternatives a second look. That's also common sense.

Big MAK is correct ...

I called Cummins South yesterday and they will be offering a recon for about 2/3rds the price of a new one. The new ones were over $80 bucks each. There may be a core charge for the recons, though.

And, yep, if you're gonna get injectors now, you have to consider buying aftermarket or just "fergit'n it. " I'm probably in the latter catagory, at least for now. :(

This will most likely effect the price of all injectors aftermarket or Bosch 275's. My understanding is some aftermarket injector makers start with new 275 injectors and open them up more from there. My guess is if this goes that way for the price of 275's the aftermarket folks will realize they can charge more for theirs that have more power than the 275 can make. (oh wait, not trying to give them any ideas. uh yeah... . I am using reverse psychology :D )
