As many of you know at our Utah Dyno days I fragged a turbo :mad: and have been in the proccess of over hauling the mighty Cummins.

It is incedible how good my motor looks inside. Had it not been for the compressor blade metal denting the tops of the pistons this motor would have gone at least to 500K. The cylinders all still had the cross hatches the main bearing look like brand new and rod bearing have very slight wear on top. The head gasket was showing signs of loosing it's seal Too much boost I guess

My engine has been hotter than stock ever since it had 30K and now it shows 162,365. I started with the #12 plate(232 HP) it made it for less than a year and then the #11 plate(287 HP), then all the way forward (342HP) then 370s and a 16 housing(392 HP). Then the super PDR HX-40, 4K GSK, and the #0 plate(493 HP) and the finial set up the PDR HX-50(559 HP).

I have ran 50+ times on a dynos and countless times the pyro has been maxed(1600+) out. And alot of the last dyno runs I would push this mighty engine right to the governer 4200 RPMS!! :eek:

I have run AmsOil since 40K and only had the drain plug out 3 times since then!!!!

It has been over 450 HP for better than two years, tugs my TT like nothing is there, and has spanked a great many other vehicles on a regular basis.

This is one tuff motor!!!!

I've always wondered if objects large enough to cause damage could make it past the intercooler. Sounds like they can...

Any hairline cracks starting in the valve areas?

Someone said that any runs of 1400 or more would guarantee cracks.

Forrest, I found cracks on all but #2, but they don't look as if they are causing any harm. The Valves looked really good!!

Bill, All the cylinders have dents in the top of the pistons. #2 & #3 they are alot more dents. #3 and # 5 Cylinder the dents swedge the piston out next to the cylinder wall causing it to scuff the cylinder wall slightly, other than that the thing would have ran fine. I thoght before I pulled it down that the intake valves in #2 & #3 where bent because there was alot of lash. It was just compressor blade holding the valve open some.

Dee,

Got any pics to post?

Glad you're getting back together. Also glad I wasn't there to see the look on your face that day :{

overhaul

When it went there was people thinking he blew a tire until it blew that last puff of smoke out of the exhaust fan .
