Need some help Got 2014 truck coming my way. After reading a post that had to do with a transmission line leaking the person was told to make sure they topped off the fluid with the right AT. I know what to use in my 98.5 Ram, but have no experience with the new to me 6.7L, or the AISIN AT. Is anyone using Amsoil ATF. If so which do you use in the AISIN transmission Amsoil shows this number MOPAR® AS68RC. Is for the AISIN transmission It's 1. Amsoil Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid. And 2. OE Multi-Vehicle Synthetic Automatic Transmission Fluid (OTFQT) Automatic Transmission, "AS69RC". All the ATF but the second one listed here gives the MOPAR AS68RC as what it can be used in Dodge Trucks. And which motor oil would you use 1. Synthetic 15W-40 Diesel Oil (DMEQT), 2. Synthetic 15W40 OE Diesel Oil (OEDQT). Or does it matter the OE cost less by about $ 2.35 per QT Thanks everyone.

The Aisin AS68RC is the original 6.7L diesel Aisin trans. It has now been upgraded to the AS69RC. Same fluid is used in both. The Mopar® fluid was originally marketed as "AS68RC" fluid, but now it has been re-labeled as simply "ASRC" fluid since it works in both models.

I would be hesitant about using any fluid that is not labeled as MEETING the specification for your particular transmission. "Recommended for..." or "compatible with..." is not the same as "meets the XXX specification." I am suspicious of AMSOil (or other brand's) products that claim to (or imply that they) meet a whole host of different specifications simultaneously. Mopar® sells at least five (5) different fluids for the various automatic transmissions that are currently in production. Now ask yourself: If there really was one fluid that would work optimally (or even adequately) in all of these transmissions, why would we stock and market five different kinds?

Thanks for the info it helps to know. I don't have a problem with the different AT fluids I have used Amsoil for a long time and it's never failed me yet I sell it But just thought I would ask on the forum to get other advice. I will use the AS69RC as it's more linked to the new AISIN. As far as Amsoil I don't tell anyone that it will do something that I can't prove by my own use. And I will use it in my new truck. Again, thanks for your input.

The Amsoil SS ATF is the one that meets/exceeds the MOPAR AS68RC specification. The (DME) 15W-40 is the Engine oil for your truck as well.

Thanks Joe and amsoilman I remember both of you from the days when I first came on this site. There was never a doubt about Amsoil for me. Just what fluids are right for the newer trucks. I'm retired now from the BIG YELLOW FATHER and built thousands of diesel engines so fun is all I think about am going to try and come to May Madness 2015.

According to the service manual, the fluids are different. It's interesting how much more fluid the 68RFE uses.

Your chart only list the OVERHAUL FILL for the 68RFE, so it's not that much of a difference. It's about 3 liters more based on overhaul data in your chart.

Mobil apparently has not tested their 3309 vs. Chrysler specs directly. They said it meets the 3309 and T-IV requirements.

Here is more info:
Here is a link that shows Chrysler recommending their ASRC fluid for slip
controlled lock-up Aisin Seiki automatics that require fluid meeting T-IV
specs.

ASRC™ ATF
Part Number - 05189979AA
Category - AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUIDS
Unit: 180 Gallon Pallet
MSQ: 1
Part Description
Formulated as an exceptionally high performance lubricant for
use in AS68RC and AS69RC slip-controlled lock-up automatic
transmissions. Recommended for use in transmissions made by
Aisin-Seiki requiring Type T-IV fluids. Refer to vehicle owners
manual for proper fluid requirements.

Unit: 180 Gallon Pallet
Did you happen to notice that a pallet of 180 gallon jugs is exactly 100 service fills for the Aisin AS69RC (720 quarts per pallet at 7.2 quarts per service fill)?

Let's see... that'll cover 3,000,000 miles if you drain and refill the transmission every 30,000 miles per the recommended maintenance schedule.

I wonder if I can order a pallet via Amazon Prime? :)
