Hey Preleeguy!
I also had the Banks muffler that went with Stinger Plus kit. I totally agree with you on the too quiet part and I also believe that it's still too restrictive but better than OEM. Do a search for "muffler" OR "Straight Pipe, how loud is it?", JULIMOC was asking about this a month or so ago. Also over in the Product Forum on 2-14-2000 titled '4" muffer survey' had great info on the 3" Walker mufflers that fit our systems.
When my truck was up at JRE two weeks ago Ted installed the highly recommended Walker #21468 3" straight thru - perforated core muffler on my 92'. What a difference, great quality sound w/o the in cab boom &/or resonance that's associated with a straight pipe. Sounds like a mini Peterbilt!
This is the muffler that Old School, J. Donnelly and Ted at JRE have recommend. I know that many members have also had good results with the Dynomax Magnum & Billet racing series mufflers. I've also heard that they're louder than than the Walker.
The really cool part of this muffler (beside great sound)is that you can actually hear the turbo spooling down after shutting the truck off. I never understood what others were talking about until I did this installation. NOW I Get It!
Great stuff!..... Keeno
