Ok I KNOW I'm an idiot, BUT is anyone else having issues with the search engine in the website.

1. I have used it alot in the past so I'm not a newbie (used sucessfully I add)

2. When I enter a search, even for MYSELF as a member, I get no results unless I select all forums or default forum—the same query filtered by truck generation, specific forum(s), etc will yield no result. This has just started recently…

3. By example - for an engine question, I can't filter to my generation and engine - I get no results. Instead I have to search all forums and then scroll through for the appropriate hits. Products & accessories? - all forums then screen for P&A posts.

ideas??

No problems here I'm aware of - how about posting a sample of what isn't working for you, but you KNOW is there - so we can see if we have the same problem?

I just tried a ton of searches and had no problems. For example, I put "brake" in the keywords field, "dieseldoghouse" in the username field, and selected "Turbo Diesel Topics, 2nd generation (1994-2002)" in the search in forums box. I get 18 results for that. Are you by any chance choosing the FAQ forums that are at the top of that forum list instead of the forums themselves down lower? The Magazine archives are listed first, then the FAQ forums, free stuff, common sense tips, the website/magazine suggestions forum, the 911 forums, THEN all of the regular 4th, 3rd, 2nd, and 1st gen forums are listed.

I don't know what is up - TODAY I entered dieseldoghouse and again selected <all default forums> (we're not even getting into TDR resource queues) and got results of 1 - 25 of 500 results versus no results the other day. I could understand if I had filtered to the FAQ's exclusively but as I mentioned I haven't consciously changed how I utilize the search engine from the past 5 years…Now I am getting hits (unlike the other night) and I'll take that. In the typical TDR spirirt - thanks for the prompt help from those who added input.

Okay, I've got a search issue. The boolean search doesn't seem to be working (for me).

I entered the following, verbatim:

+nv5600 +pop

And I get 500 results, most of which (all?) do NOT contain both nv5600 AND the word pop.

What have I done wrong? Other than what I typed into the search edit box, everything else was left default.

Not sure - I'm getting the same results. I searched around for an answer tonight but haven't found anything yet. I'll get back to you - if I don't get back within a couple days post a reminder for me please.

Thanks,
Steve

I have never been able to make the search engine work unless i search in all open forums.

For example I would like to seach in the 24 valve forum and search for "miss"

it will not bring up anything. Now if i search in all open forums and page through all of the posts I find things in the 24 valve forum

If i am doning something wrong tell me so I can change it.

If it is on your end you change it. . Just tired of some saying "haven't you tried the search"

Your probably searching in the "2nd Gen 24 Valve Engine and Transmission FAQ" forum not in the actual 24v engine forum - look at the forum list and you'll see they are listed in the same order as they are on the forum page and the FAQ forums come on the list before the regular forums. If I search on "miss" in the FAQ forum I get zero results. If I search on "miss" in the "24 Valve Engine and Transmission (1998. 5 - 2002)" forum then I get 500 results (which is the maximum number that it will return).
