The Shining movie

Anyone know where that road that the family is driving on is in the opening scenes/credits on the way to the hotel? That is just some amazing scenery! I want to add it to my list of places to drive on.

The Overlook Hotel in the movie is the Timberline Lodge in Portland, Oregon. It is on the slope of Mt. Hood so, I would guess those shots were traveling to the hotel.

Stephen King wrote half of The Shining book in The Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, Colorado, and the mini-series starring the guy from the Wings sitcom was filmed there entirely.



Also, The Stanley hotel itself is haunted but it's said the ghosts there aren't as scary as The Shining's ghosts. Also, I stayed there once when I was younger, never experienced any hauntings, but I didn't know it was haunted at the time either.
