Well I guess my good luck had to end at somepoint but man it has hit ROCK bottom. Here is my story. After 165k the getrag in my truck was getting perty noise so I did the usual thing and nersed it for a litttle while untell I could get all my ducks in a row to take it out(this was about 2 weeks) well anyway I had a good freind of mine do it at his shop for me and I shiped it to "Standard Transmision and gear co. " out of Fort Worth TX. Once it got there with my trans case (just wanted new bearings and seals in it) they started right on my t-case but nothing with my transmission well it was over a week before they started on it and once they did the bills started to pile up and fast. I have a new transmission except for 1-2 gear cluster, 1 gear syncro and case. So I got my tanny and t-case back 2 weeks later took they got to my buddies shop and he said he would have them in by the morning. next day came aroud jumped in my old beast started it up no noise, sounded fine so i paid my buddy the little he wanted for tien up his shop for so long and started on down the road. I go to put it in 5 gear NO 5th at all so I made a quick U turn took it back to the shop called standard they said oh ok sent it back to them everything was cool gave me 200 off the price of the transmission for any labor costs. Got up there and they called me and said "someone put in a faulty 5 gear retaning sleave in" next day transmission was back at the shop and it is back in my truck. I am driving it but it sounds worse then when i sent it to them so I called them again, they have no idea what the sound is that I am describing and they clamed to of spun the transmission up to 5,500rpm in every gear with NO noise at all. So now I have to drive it up to Fort Worth (6 hours) so they can see if they can try and figure it out. Maybe just maybe it will come back right this time.

racing,

Sorry to hear about the problems that you are having with the getrag rebuild. There are quite a number of us still running with getrag. Keep us posted. Sure hope they resolve your problems!

Cheers,

Al
