They addressed the issue but what exactly did they say. Was it don't mess with it because it is not really a concern? They mentioned a bit on the jig fix , but I did not see anything on the washer fix. Cummins says to use the weeping loctite or take the case and gears off and peen the pin in the block for the only proper fix, evidently the washer tab fix is deffinitely a no-no due to heat expansion. So now I guess I'll wait till the next issue comes out.

I am the "they" for most of the article, with some stuff from the editor, Robert Patton, also on the pages. His feeling is that the failure is real rare and you can probably ignore the possibility. I have heard of enough of the failures now that I am less sure of that. My friend at one of the 4 dealerships here has done around a half dozen of them. I did mention the "washer" fix, and if you look closely at the pictures you can see the jig I designed and use to install a 1" long setscrew.

Now, what exactly was your question? If you want to know whether to do the fix, I don't know. Whatever I advise you, someone else will advise you differently. If you tear down the engine and the pin is tight, you might feel you wasted your time. If you don't and it comes out, you will be angry that no one told you to do the preventive fix. Also it is a lot more work to loctite all the bolts inside the cover because you have to remove the camshaft (or maybe you can just pull it a bit and hope you don't pull it too far for the lifters to stay in place on the lobes.

I recommend you read the various threads and decide how lucky you feel today.
