Didn't work for me either, but I just bought a new 2003 Honda Accord EX two weeks ago. It has a DOHC 16 valve i-VTEC 2. 4L 160 HP in-line 4 banger. Response is pretty good on the low end, but kind of doggy at higher speeds. I'm happy with it though. I didn't want to spend the $1000's extra to get the V6 (240 HP), leather, etc. I suppose the link indicated above is going to tell me I bought a POS.

klenger my wife just bought one of those accords several months ago. Hers is an 03. She went ahead and got the EX V6. Satin Silver(or something like that)is the color. Nice car. I don't get to drive it much.

I've had 2 VTEC-equipped Honda products:



A Civic Si with 1600 cc (97 cubic inch) 4 cylinder engine producing 160 BHP with an 8000 RPM redline. This was the DOHC version of Honda's VTEC technology with variable valve lift and duration (2 cam profiles) on both the intake and exhaust. Not much bottom end, but when the cams shifted at 5600 RPM, it was a neat ride to 8000 RPM. Never back to the shop for any warranty problems.



My current Acura 3. 2TL-Type S with a 3200 cc (195 cubic inch) V-6 producing 260 BHP with a 6900 RPM redline. This engine has the SOHC VTEC system working on the intakes only. A nice leather-lined 6. 2 second 0-60, 14. 8 second quarter mile, 145-150 MPH top end commuter car. Again, never been back to the shop for any warranty problems.

I checked out the Acura 3. 2TL. I could lease it for $320 / month for 36 months. Very nice car, but too rich for my budget to purchase one.

Honda has a diesel powered car coming in Feb '04. I might have to take a closer look at it . Decent HP & torque #'s too. 52. 3 MPG
