Here's a delightfully little ditty. .

I must admit, some of you guys got me hooked on reading what the other half is doing.

I found this thread that was real interesting. The original poster and the 1st responder seems to have a decent hold on reality.

http://www.62-65-dieselpage.com/ubb/Forum3/HTML/001188.html

At one point, one responder (the one without a good grasp on reality, but yet he's still the slowest in the bunch) talks about a Dodge has being worthless until it's "chipped out"... and how it takes a chipped out Dodge to hold 65-70 on a hill with a slide in. Well I don't have a slide in, but a 6Klb + TT. Try and tell that tale to the Fords and Chevy's I pass towing my packed TT (and the bed/with a cap/ packed with firewood & 90gal of water, for the week) up the mountains in upstate NY. And I'm completely stock.

We educate them one at a time, as we pass 'em.

Bob

They need to learn how to spell

First thing is they need to be educated on how to spell. "Cummings" is what happens to them when they sit behind the wheel of a real truck and realize they bought a mistake.

chevy whatever

I can care less if I have to shut down my Cummins if I go through a drivethru. Come on now that is like a little boy saying his bike is better because be put a playing card on the frame next to his spokes on the tire so it makes a motor sound.

And as far as the having a nicer interior. He obviously has not looked to closely at a SLT plus.

And he has an Allison, oh well we get better fuel mileage. See even I can act like a child.

Personally, I liked the part on the 'dial' and my truck is much, much quieter, lol.

The only 'dial' I have used recently is soap in the shower. As for the much much more quieter part, RAM THIS diesel wanna be !!!

I have to agree with the one called Idaho Bassman.

The DODGE RAM will never be the truck the Chevy is. The Dodge is so much better a truck than a Chevy is, who would want to down grade it to be a Chevy??

;) When I go on Jeep runs there are usually a lot of different vehicles towing their Jeeps... . pickups, Grand Cherokees, Durangos, Suburbans, etc. Modified Jeeps w/trailer usually weigh approx. 6500-7000 lbs. Now that my Ram is breaking in I'm really having fun waiting until half way up a steep grade to pull out and start passing the gasping gassers. :p I can only imagine what it will be like when more mods are done.

I always pass going up hill. When I pull back in front of what I am passing, my wife looks over at me and says with a smile; you're bad..... I caught her doing the same thing. I looked over at her and she had the sheepish grin her face!:D :D :D

"The Dial"

Saint, the "Dial" is a performance device for the Chevy. Like a Comp box, it's adjusable from within the cab.

Until they can figure out how to keep the auto transmission from telling the fuel system about excessive slippage they have a ceiling on how much power they can produce.

Real interesting!

Well fellas:

That is real interesting to hear the Duramax folks tell about their problems. Wonder how much it'll cost to BOMB a Duramax?

I just recently dyno'd mine at 315. 2 HP and 774 ft lbs TQ. Getting ready to run my 5th wheel back to Texas in Oct. Can't wait to catch a Phord or Duramax on a grade. :D

No matter what, I'm Cummins/Dodge (in that order) all the way.

;)

Do we, the TDR members, rip up the the others like those guys do the Dodge/Cummins? If so I haven't seen it yet. I especially like the members name "Dodge This" He is half way there, he has the name already if not the truck yet.

I don' think that any bombed duramax trucks will be passing you any time soon. Piers said that their EGT's are already about maxed and any mods send them through the roof. Can you say cracked aluminum heads? Melted pistons? They make nice power stock but you can consider them already "bombed".

When I pass on hills my wifey says "Are we showing off a liitle bit dear" I tell her no, I am just showing them what a real truck will do.

The Durpalax has its place, if you want to continue getting a few bucks at the beer can recycle place thank them... ... then SPANK them!

It's a kick seeing the "other side". Aluminum heads... check the melting (flow) point of aluminum... pretty sure it's 1750* or so... I would be concerned. Yes water cools it however the surface of the combustion side can get REAL hot... what were those engineers thinking... I stick with a time proven powerplant.

So Sad!!!!

Guy (and Gals):

I came up on my first Duramax yesterday. Pulled right up beside him. Goosed it a few times. He stayed steady. Not sure if he was scared or holding back. Still looking for one with ba@@s...

I think it's a compliment to the Cummins (or should I say Cummings) just for the simple fact they have a thread titled Duramax vs. Cummins:p

To not acknowledge the inline beast would be would be more of an insult.

I found it interesting that the Allison has problems with slippage when bombing, and I was actually a little transmission envious:eek:

I do hate to see people keep bringing up the aluminum head part, kind of irrelevant until it causes problems. Our pistons are aluminum, so both motors are vulnerable to extreme egt's.

I like having the option of annoying people at the drive up window:D

I love the drive throughs and my Cummins...

I find it a bit of a revenge item. Every now and then one of those little roller skates race through the parking lot to get infront of me at the drive through... So instead of being nice and hanging back so they can place their order, I stay right inback of them, real close... . and they CAN'T place their order and wind up having to go in. :p

I alway have to shut the beast off so I can place my order.

All that sound of power and it's Legal!!!
