my ignition kill switch is a rocker switch mounted underneath my amp under the drivers seat and the wires are tied into the amp wires, it looks like a part of the amp, I have never seen it done before

thanks, now I can fill my order.

just kiddin.

I used to work for a towing place that did repos. Pretty tough work!!! takes some cojones to pick up some vehicles, like the ones in front of a gang's house.

I have a kill switch hid pretty good, kinda like you do. It looks and seems like it does something else.

I also sometimes will put the truck in 4-wheel drive when I park it. that way, you cant just pick the back up with a wrecker and drive off (just make sure you put it in 4-wheel while you are still moving so the CAD has a chance to lock in). Also, If you leave the wheels turned all the way to lock, its harder to just tow away (useful if you have a 2wd). You can still brake the ign lock, but as RJREPO said, time is your friend. The longer it takes, the less appealing to steal.

However, nothing is totally safe. Unless maybe you carry a bombproof bunker around with you. Just dont lock it with a master lock.

This might work. Instead of a stupid horn beeping when some one breaks into the truck. Have the sound of gun shots ringing out over the stereo system. People always call the police when they hear gun shots. That way you don't waste any time making a call. The bad guy will probably fill his diaper and run like a chicken. Although in some neighbor hoods you'll have to call police?

Gun shot noises are only useful in good areas, not to mention populated, most places nowadays will just duck down in their businesses/homes and come out to wash the blood down the gutter later on. Alarm sirens that come with most systems nowadays are usually ignored when they go off.

A screaching high decibel siren like those in an ambulance will work well when mounted inside the cab to the bottom of the dash or behind the glovebox. Mine is out of an old EMT van, it will drive you out of the car with both hands over your ears, there is no one I have met who can tolerate it. I have unfortunately set it off on myself before. (several times when I first installed it, I haven't set it off in a long time). My alarm itself is mounted in the bed toolbox with a motorcycle battery for back up power. I've also thought of tying it into a second siren mounted on my headache rack outside encased in expanded metal with the wires fed inside the tubing of the headache rack, then down to the toolbox where its hard to access. But it is not a concern with the age and appearance of my truck, maybe if I get a newer prettier one someday. Not any time soon though.

The best deterent I can think of though is a 12 volt fuel solenoid valve that is inline to the injector pump. Since most cars are driven away, can you imagine the frustration of a diesel running out of fuel? This is the best chance of you getting your truck back. Mostly because it will probably be abandoned where it stalls out, and even more likely without anything removed from it since it was planned to be stripped AFTER it was in a secure and safe location for the thief.

My truck looks like it just came in town from the ranch nowadays, so I rarely have much concern about it going anywhere. I hardly ever lock it and usually even leave the windows down. If a thief wants something, they are going to get in, usually with alot of damage to just empty my ashtray of some loose change and a few CD's.

I've always thought that having a flash/bang like the cops use fall out from under the dash and go off would work really good.

powerwagon can we see pics of your nittos and boyd coddingtons?

I believe there are pics of the boyds in my reader's rides, but with the 285's on them. Since I got the nitto's, my digi camera has been MIA, but as soon as I find it, I will take pics (I have been lookin since march :( )

Actually, I have seen that done and it stopped me, um, never.

I used to do some repo work and it's alot easier with a wrecker than you can imagine.

So, even with the front locked up, or the rear, doesn't matter. I would drag it down the street and throw straps and chains on it down the road. If I felt I was in the clear (usually long after the tires had flat spotted) I would get into the vehicle and select the gear that worked best. I almost never dollied. And If I had the combo flat/ drag, I could snatch the vehicle, drag it done the street then drag it onto the bed where I felt safe.

Truth is, if the want it, it is thiers. A good alarm system will stop the lesser crooks. Adding a battery for the alarm is a good idea, even under the hood. Motorcycle battery in a box bolted to the frame works ok. Also, strobes in the vehicle attract visual attention if anyone looks out the window to see whos alarm is sounding. Don't forget those pain generator sirens in the cab.

Simple kill switches work and can be placed almost anywhere. Magnet switches are only good if you can deactivate them and still look natural. Most crooks that are looking for a specific vehicle can afford to case it out for a day or two.

Changing the locks and covering the VIN is the first/ best things to do. Add a simple kill switch, and you are started. A relay run to a power ball valve in the fuel line is a doozie too.

I guess i didnt mean it would stop it from getting towed, just add to the time it takes and the noise it makes. ;)

GLOCK,,,,need I say more

Glock 36 and . 45 worth of corbon +p+ hollowpoints ... . 3 of 'em and 4 Hydrashocks all helped out by Mr Lasermax and trijicon :-laf

that is if they get passed a host of rewired relays and interupts.

Sig P226 - stainless steel so they get every chance to see it...

Seriously, if they want it bad enough it's gone. You just have to slow them down so they look elsewhere. I kill the run part of the fuel solenoid. It'll start but stop as soon as you release the key. Gives me enough time to hear it and get the Sig :-laf

The "club" is pretty much useless. Although it would be tough to saw through the club itself, it would only take a few seconds to saw thru the steering wheel and pop the club off!

What do you all use to secure your truck? Is " THE CLUB " still a usefull item or is there something else you use to secure your truck?

What is the best thing to use for theft deterent?

I use a cell phone charger, plugged into the "always on" power/cigarette lighter. The little red LED shines brightly all night.

A San Diego cop told me that about ten years ago. He said it takes about 15 seconds to get a club off and throw it in the gutter.

I have a two-way DEI alarm. Dont need to hear the alarm going off, the DEI key FOB alerts with any trigger. Remote start works nice too. Cools it down before I get in it. :D I also have every Glock and Sig model they import into the US :-laf

How about a wheel lock like the traffic cops use to lock a wheel up so the owner can't get it? Sure it would be a pain, but dealing with insurance companies could be worse! I know, a heavy, bulky, tacky looking wheel lock. But if the cops use them, why not you? Of course, I bet they would be difficult to get one for personal use...

Recently in the local paper (Repubican American, Waterbury, CT)... A woman was arrested for dis-obeying an officer/not stopping and larceny. Apparently he "booted" her car and she drove off with the boot attached. The officer who was down the road handing out parking tickets heard the racket. He gave chase and she was arrested.
