After taking off the passenger handle, I was wondering if there was any way of stopping someone from breaking into my truck the same way again.
This is a possible way, if you have the power door locks.
There are rods connecting the lock motor to the lock knob, the door handle, and the key mechanism of the door.
By disconnecting the rod from the key tumbler to the motor, thiefs cannot steal my truck the same way again!!!
The only downfall I can see, is if the door motor to unlock the door fails, or if the batteries in the power door lock transmitter go out... .
Please tell me what you guys think... . I'm about to do the same thing to the drivers side door.
To continue the theft prevent/deter stuff, I'm gonna get some air horns and connect them to the alarm, and bury some WAY LOUD ear busting sirens in the cab.
Short of devising some steel spikes that would skewer any would be theif, I am out of feasable ideas... ... #ad

Jesse,I know how you're feeling, thieves strum up an evil chord in me also. Any alarm that damages the thief most always ends up going off on the wrong person, and is illegal also, the thief can sue you. If they want to get in your rig they will,a thief broke into my truck in Huntington Beach last winter by breaking the side window, the truck was unlocked!Best thing you can do is install a hidden kill switch,it's described in in General Diesel right now. It will at least keep your rig where you left it,most thieves don't want to spend the extra time trying to figure out why it won't start.

Muscle, it's late, I'm tired, maybe I didnt read your post completely. But if memory serves me, you can bust out a window, and drive off w/o the alarm going off.
My brother had a new Vette, and this happened.
I'm talking factory alarms. Motion sensors, etc. etc. and all bets are off.

I really don't know if you can make it theft proof. A lot of stuff intended to prevent theft just doesn't work if the thief has figured it out. For example, the "Club" takes about 15 seconds to defeat. Just hack saw the steering wheel right next to the "Club" and yank it out. Then toss it on the road so the car owner can see where his car used to be. A San Diego cop told me about that one when someone stole the stereo from my van a few years ago. Breaking in is no problem as illflem says. Just knock out the window. My approach is to make mine a pain in the butt to get started so it takes too much time to steal. I have two concealed switches. One disables the fuel solenoid and the other interrupts the ground to the starter solenoid. If I park it a long time (airport) I remove the trigger wire from the relay I use on the fuel solenoid so even if they find the switch it still won't work.

Go to cable control on the fuel injector pump. Most people will never figure out that they have to push or pull a knob to get the thing to start. Also you never have to worry about the electric control not working. Just throw it away!!!!
A long time ago all diesels used cable control for start/stop. Some tractors still do.

THE EASIEST WAY TO STEAL **** NEAR ANY VEHICLE A THIEF WANTS IS TO STEAL A TOW TRUCK!

An S Class Benz got hooked along a fire curb in front a Grocery Store I worked at in High School, no one looked twice... AT THE STOLEN WRECKER SWIPING THE ILLEGALLY PARKED BENZ.

I think Capital Punishment for repeat offenders in the GTA sector is appropriate...

I was thinking, you might take the diesel emblem off the sides of the doors. If someone wants to rip off a Dodge truck, a diesel will probably be more tempting, they could pull the engine out and get a good bit of money for it. I wouldn't think they would rip off a Dodge truck that has a wimpy 318 in it.

Of course we could do it the Whor oops... GORE way - remove 4 wheels and tires, set on blocks, remove wheel inside. Now get all five wheels together and travel around w/o using any fuel!!!!!! Not easy to steel (yes STEEL) the rest #ad

I'm with BigFig. First thing I did was to take off all the decals and emblems off our truck... . two reasons: First less you advertise what you got the better and secondly it makes it easier and nicer when you wax it!

If you have a club cab there is a less messy way to break in besides breaking window, but it would take practice to do it quickly.
Rear sliding windows are pretty easy too, but you can fix that pretty easy so no one can use it to enter truck.
The saying "if there is a will, there is a way" can be put to use by both owner and thief. You just have to think like a thief.

FYI, I locked the keys in my truck a few months ago.

Called the mobile lock guy, he had the door open 10 seconds or so after he got out of his truck.

You will have to go a long way to make that secure.
