2011 ford... HMMM interesting read

I can't quite figure it out, but there seems to be something not quite right with my Cummins diesel engine. I've included a few pictures so that someone might be able to take a look and see what might be the matter.

It just seems that it is running on five cylinders, I don't know. It was fine up until this afternoon when I did a little fooling around with it. Anyone have any ideas?

I see you did not install the copper core plugs, that's yer first problem. Take them Brand X out and get the good stuff.

It's pretty clear in the second pic that #3 and #4 are switched. Also, the 24 valve engines run too cool and will carbon up the valves without the proper layer of insulating road grime.

Thanks for the replies guys, but I still don't know what the heck is wrong. I guess I'll wait until I have to have it smogged and see if the smog guy can maybe help me out. I'm sure those guys know everything about diesels.

I think you might be right though, before I cleaned it it did run better and quieter also.

You should leave all that on there when you go to have your truck smogged. I'd pay to see that!:-laf

That exact thought just happened to cross my mind :-laf

Might be kind of fun!

That is hilarious. What are those plug wires sitting on? I mean, I'm not familiar enough with the 2nd gen valve cover to know - are there bolt heads in those locations?

I got lucky, the boots just happen to be a tight press fit on the bolts that hold the valve cover on. I've driven around for a week and they stay in place.

It took my neighbor with a Duramax about a minute before he figured it out, He asked, laughing, what they were for.

I'm going to leave them on when I have it smogged just to see if anyone notices.
