Considering the thermal bypass valve delete to reduce transmission oil temps, the block appears to be made with threaded ports for connection of existing lines. The connection between the threaded ports is straight thru, eliminating the thermal crossover in the original valve. My question is this, would the same thing be accomplished by using two couplings of the correct thread size to join the existing lines from the transmission and the cooler? If so, does anyone know the thread type and size on the existing lines?

Why? Do you know what your transmission temps are?

Granted I do not have a 2017 truck but I do have the 68REF in my 2008 truck. I have a temp probe in the transmission pan. When towing my 5er I usually see between 190 to 195F. With most of the time when I am not towing the temp is usually under 170F even at 90F ambient temps! In the winter the temps are just above the 100F mark on the gage!

My pan is a Mag-Hytec deep dish pan that holds an additional 3 Qtrs. of fluid.

The consideration for installing the thermal bypass valve delete is, I live in southwest New Mexico and see temps in the high 190’s regularly running empty.
