I'm going to install some gages, one of them being a transmission temp. I have seen some people install them in one of the test holes. Which one will work best and what is the fluid doing at that point (going or coming from what) and what size probe do I need? Thanks

temp probe

Front tap (on servo) is third gear oil, middle is line pressure(pressure in drive only), or get a Mag-Hytec pan and put the temp probe in it. Either way you will need a 1/8npt sensor. HTH.

There are 4 pressure ports on the pass. side two are angled forward. The rear most angled one will be closed to the temp. in the pan.

I had them try putting the probe into the OEM pan, and it was a leaking nightmare at first.

Then they welded it, and wrecked the pan.

They then gave me a new one and put in a probe port. That thing was so long that the probe didn't make good contact with the fluid, so it read wrong (by about 25-40*F, by comparing the TCM reading with my probe reading).

I finally got a Mag-Hytec and it is all good now.
