Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Thermocouple instillation

Can I get away without taking the turbo off to drill and tap the hole in the manifold?I can use a vacuum to get the chips out and also some grease on the drill and tap. Would save me some work. Thanks

Yep, use the vacuum or just leave the truck running.

the method you descibed worked for me twice. i couldnt handle the heat with the truck running.

I did it the way that you described, but got a magnetic screw driver [pullout magnet in tip] & put it down in the hole. It worked great!
